Description of 🔧 Astro Rivet Nut Drill Adapter Kit ADN14 for Pneumatic Tools

Easily convert cordless or corded drills into power rivet nut setters. Includes 8 mandrels and nosepieces in Metric and SAE: M3, M4, M5, M6, 8-32, 10-32, 10-24 and 1/4-20. The only model on the market that pulls the rivet nut instead of turning threads to set, causing less wear. Innovative design withstands 4X the force of other adapters, and features a CNC machined billet aluminum body and Cr-Mo mandrels. Use 12V and up cordless drills for aluminum and steel rivet nuts, or 14.4V and up for stainless up to 1/4" (all drills must feature torque limiting clutch).

Good but limited

Nice tool but don't buy it hoping you will successfully install M3 or M4 threaded nuts or SAE equivalents. The thread pitch is simply too small to withstand the torque required to break the wall density of the rivet nuts. You clean the mandrel on the second or third adjustment. M5 and above are fine. I recommend just buying a similar socket that comes with larger spikes. For smaller screws M4 and below it is better to use a tap.

  • Price piggy bank

It was the best money I've ever spent on a tool

It was the best money I've ever spent on a tool. I used to use portable manual tuning tools. I almost bought another installation tool that has a lever for installing large rivet nuts and stumbled upon this one by accident. I use it with my Milwaukee 18 volt drill and it's fantastic! Comes with 7 sets of different sizes and they are all very easy to change. Be sure to read the instructions. It explains how you plan to use the drill sleeve and performs a dry run to properly install the rivet…

Suitable for brass rivets, that's all

TLDR: Great for brass rivets, but I wouldn't attempt to make anything 1/4-20 or larger in stainless steel. about 30 1/4-20 stainless steel rivets and managed to break both mandrels. As people have said, they are not as capable as described. Both claim to be able to ride SS 1/4-20, but one of the rods broke off and the other broke off cleanly. I have a 20v battery drive with torque limit as needed but the hassle of installing it on the SS Rivnit was too much anyway. I went back to making them by

i love this shop Good for air tool parts and accessories

If you have to turn multiple nuts in a year, this thing will save your life. Drilling a hole takes longer than installing a rivet nut. Installs them so well it looks like factory work. The only caveat is that if you don't adjust the torque on your drill bit, you can break the mandrel or strip the threads off the nut. A year later I broke 1/4 20 of the mandrel trying to set a rivet in a piece of metal that was too thick. My fault I knew better. Anyway, I was looking for a replacement. Astro…

Mandrels break very easily

Tool OK. The spikes break very easily. You'd better plan to purchase additional services. Mine broke about 15 minutes after using the product. The company guarantees it with spare parts, but they can't replace them overnight. I bought this and a 1443A manual. The spikes on both broke shortly after I used them. I bought two tools because I had a deadline to meet, but both broke and I can't meet the deadline. I think I might buy a third one, I can get it overnight. I wish the Amazons would have…

Saves a lot of manual work

I had a project that required 320 rivet nuts. I've had a trusted Astro rivet nut hand tool for years and it got the job done for coveralls and doubles, but I used up to 20 rivet nuts on this project before my weak hands gave out. I bought the pneumatic version of their tool and after figuring out how to use it I riveted the other 300 pieces in 3-4 hours. It's 3-4 hours with lots of beer breaks. I used a Milwaukee 12v impact drill with torque set to "2" and used M6x1mm nuts. With this setup I…

Use this with a 1/4 " screwdriver instead of a drill so it doesn't break

I liked that it was easy to use. Instruction says try on a piece of scrap metal. did it and it worked great. Throttle valve control from over 20 years of experience with a drill. seemed like a great tool, went to put the first 8-32 in the toolbox I need to rebuild Damn thing broke the first time! The metal making up the mandrels needs to be weaker or more brittle than the 8-32 metal screws you get from your hardware store! Because my cordless drill is set to the lowest torque setting. won't…

Good tool but needs some tweaking

Out of the box this is a very good tool. With a few DIY tweaks, it can be a great tool. The tool supplied works well but is not very smooth. I decided to open it up and check out the inside. For disassembly, 1 circlip (outside) and 1 electronic clip (inside) must be removed. The internals look good, but the lubrication is terrible. This is a typical yellow Chinese snack that is marginal when new and becomes waxy over time. I cleaned off all the bearing grease and poured in plenty of Lucas X-TRA

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Astro Pneumatic ADN14 Compressor with Rivets and Nuts - Quality at a price

For a machinist, quality tools not only work well, they feel good in the hand when they are the right weight. fit and done. However, what really counts is how well the tool performs, and this Astro Pneumatic ADN14 Rivet Nut Driver is top notch. For what it does, grab a rivet nut and press the threaded end against the flanged end, the Astro beats even my obsession with the best budget tool. Instead of using an improvised rivet nut compression method like a nut, bolt, and washer, I decided to use
