Great idea for removing valve springs from a cylinder head that has already been removed. The idea is to press on opposite ends of the same valve to remove the retainers, spring and valve cap and of course the valve itself. The first problem is that there is no "button" to protect the valve surface from tool scratches. I had to invent it so as not to damage the surface of the valve. This tool is great for my Toyota 5EFE. A few complaints mentioned in other reviews are the lack of a scratch-resistant piece to fit inside the combustion chamber and the fact that there is nothing to prevent the handle from falling out during use. As shown in my photos, I resolved each of these issues with the parts I had. I needed this tool to reinstall the valve springs on my '71 VW Bus. I already removed them with the O'Reilly loaner tool which did the job. But I wanted something with better reinstallation accessibility to have better access to the valve retainer grooves.
