Exactly what I needed

So far they work exactly how I need them. Buried underground in the landscaping. No more shorts and circuit breakers in our daily light show!

Pros
  • Excellent price
Cons
  • Some cons

Waterproof? no the best in electrical engineering

Waterproof? A picture says 1000 words. I bought four of these, I'll have to dig them all out and replace them with junction boxes that are really waterproof because they're definitely not waterproof.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Slightly torn

No Y connector it seems

Nice box, right price but no Y connector it seems. The inner connector block connects the three conductors to the second set of three conductors. To connect the third set, two wires must be inserted into the same location in the terminal block, which is not possible with a larger gauge wire. I removed the terminal block and used the wire nuts in the box.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Little things

Best for low voltage lighting.

Very nice waterproof boxes. The binding posts accept 12 gauge wire, however the wire is too stiff to use. I twisted and soldered every joint in my 100 foot driveway. I also added some waterproof silicone sealant where the wire goes in the box just in case the flat wire doesn't fit perfectly. Cables are held firmly in the box. I am satisfied that they will be maintenance-free for several years.

Ideal for 70V outdoor speakers

These are REALLY smart boxes. If you are into landscape lighting or high voltage outdoor speaker systems these are great. They are best used when you need to drive something from the source (such as an amplifier or light transformer) and want a tap. They wouldn't be as useful if you need to do loops or something like that. Note that they barely fit the 16AWG wire for direct outdoor penetration. However, this is my own problem as I could have chosen a thicker wire. Great purchase and really…

Does not have foam inserts for cable nipples

Nipples for attaching wire feeders do not have foam inserts that are normally supplied with other similar junction boxes. A screw cap with a seal makes no sense if wet rain only follows the line from the can. If the 3rd nipple is pointing down, maybe it would be gravity flow and not a short. Otherwise this box is the perfect size for my 12V outdoor lighting with two 3 wire lever block connectors. or braid. It is useless for connecting 3 pairs. It is good for connecting 2 cables with 3 wires…

Great when used correctly

These boxes are fantastic. I use them on 120 volts AC and they work great. I urge anyone using them for AC transmission to be confident and make a load chart with real world calculations. For example, I have a circuit with two LED lights and a ceiling fan with LED lights, and there is almost no heat on the box. (According to my thermal imager) That's about 60-70 watts with the fan on. I drilled a hole in the back of the case and used a grommet screw to secure it under the deck, then added some…

Good junction box but could use some practical improvements

I bought these to make 3 way connections for deck lighting. 1 input, 1 light output and 1 output to continue the circuit. The workmanship is good, the lid seals well and can be removed quite easily. The input channels are well dimensioned for round wire. Unfortunately, I have flat garden wire. The channels screw in and close around the wire like a camera shutter. It's quite an ingenious design. I think they'll work well enough for my needs, but if you're using flatwire or cable, expect some…
