Float Value is great for automatic water supply

A set of 4 float valves was perfect for my project. The value is screwed directly through a 5 gallon bucket with a 7/8 inch hole drilled in it. Now I only fill the 32 gallon tank once a week and all the chicks have an unlimited supply of automatic water. There are no leaks. Other parts were required, such as B. A water nipple set, a flushing hose (with two female ends), a 1/2 NPT female to 3/4 male and a check valve. Everything was super cheap or already in stock.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Scrap, spend the extra money and get the best

Get what you pay for. I thought about trying it, but I should have known better, especially since they average $13-$20 each. I opened them and as soon as I touched the first one, the ballast broke immediately. And I haven't been rough on it. They're both thin and you can tell they're cheaply made. Trying to install the second one was very difficult as I didn't want to break it. I ended up buying a Stetson like mine, which was much better made. I do not recommend.

Inexpensive Fountain Float Valve

A neighbor gave me one to replace a broken brass valve. The chlorine and Florida sun are bad for plastic floats, and over time they will crack and fill with water, rendering them useless. Replacement floats for my previous model are no longer available so you have to buy the whole brass assembly. Turns out this thing is just as good as that and I can buy 6 of these floats for less than the original! If one fails, I just change the whole node. I hope they last about a year and I can change them…
