Useless. - Vise for pins

When used as a screwdriver and turning a screw, the drill chuck clamps onto the bit and holds it in place - makes sense. So far, so good. But when the screw is loosened, the cartridge opens, loosens the bit's handle, and the bit falls out. The company shows pictures of it being used as a screwdriver and advertises it as a screwdriver among other things, but it will only TIGHTEN the screws. It cannot be used to loosen screws. Useless. If you don't anticipate that you'll never get the chance to…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging

Good pin vise: Vise

I have a couple of similar chucks/grips that I use with specially designed tools for odd little wood jobs. I bought this pin vise to try instead of General Tools #93 which otherwise seem to be fairly common. (Everyone I know in my hobby niche has a pair.) This one is cheaper, lighter, the handle is slightly larger (fits my hand better, YMMV), and the chuck itself is smaller, despite accommodating the same range of tool sizes. My bits (shaft 0.25″) move twice as far (1.5″) as possible in this…

Pros
  • Handy item

  • So far so good

Unreliable at best.

The "teeth" inside that hold the bits are barely held in place by tiny springs. If something (e.g. a big beat) bothers it a little, that's it. You can't even get to them to put them back in place and the entire product is useless. I thought the idea was very good for things where a full size drill is too much power and bulk (small projects etc.). worked but still hard to use (ratchet design would still be much better). However, I only used it a couple of times before it broke. Unfortunately…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
