I bought a decibel meter for $18. When I received it, the instructions said it needed to be calibrated with an audio calibrator, which starts at $150. Obviously I'm not going to spend $150 to calibrate an $18 decibel meter, so the meter is useless.

Only works when measuring full range speakers, not subwoofers. I give it 1 star because the documentation says it should measure from 31Hz, but it doesn't. I need to use my UMIK-1 to properly align my subwoofers. Don't buy if you need to measure a subwoofer.

is not exactly like a professional phonometer but at this price it is very good, I only test noise on the ship engine and compare with a professional dB meter ($800) and this BAFX has only 2 dB difference up to 115 dB. If you need it for non-professional use, this is perfect!

BAFX3370 has been in use for just over 6 months. Have used it several times to measure the sound around the external coil of the air conditioner. The readings seemed reasonable around 70 dBA.
