🏢 The Basement Watchdog Big Combo CONNECT Model CITS-50 1/2 HP Primary and Battery Backup Sump Pump System with Smart WiFi Capable and 24/7 Monitoring Controller Review

This is my second Watchdog backup power system. The original lasted about 8 years and only stopped working a few hours AFTER we had a record 7 inches of rain! Lucky for us it waited until it was no longer needed! It was easy to install and works as advertised. You should probably take it out once a year and spin the propeller and maybe lubricate it.

These pumps work great, the first worked 10 years, the first pump failed because the main pump body was rusty and had too many holes to drain the water. (cast aluminum) new body design (cast iron) should last much longer. Unfortunately it came with a broken bracket holding the secondary standby pump to the main pump.

I used to give this product one star but upgraded it to four stars. I had trouble connecting the wifi module because Glentronics sent an email after registering the product which ended up in my spam folder. Now everything works fine. I only gave the product four stars because I used to have a Simmer (Pentair) pump which gives a lot more information over a WiFi connection than Glentronics. If I had a choice, I would choose the Simmer pump.

I've installed sump pumps, swapped them out, wrestled with them and helped my dad replace a rusted propeller pump since I was a kid! This setup is worth every penny! Fully assembled with check valves and all. All you need to add is a battery of your choice, although I definitely recommend the maintenance-free battery that Watchdog now offers. The item came with a broken piece of plastic securing the backup pan to the unit. The company immediately sent a new one. Also bought a Wi-Fi connection module. There were no instructions, I had to contact support. One of the worst parts of the setup is the fact that you can't properly connect the charger's dual-float controller and huge power adapter. The item arrived with a broken standby pump bracket (secondary pump). I went to the manufacturer's website and emailed them (with photos attached) asking about replacing the bracket. A week has passed and nothing has been heard from the manufacturer at all. Some of the cables are hardwired to the controller boxes, making installation unnecessarily complicated - using quick connectors would make installation much easier.
