Description of BiOrb Aquarium MCR LED Accessory

The BiOrb MCR LED Light, Small, is an upgrade to the lighting for the BiOrb Classic 15, Classic 30, Classic 60, Classic 105, Life 15, BiUbe and Tube Aquariums. It's also a replacement part for the BiOrb aquariums that came with the MCR LED S Lighting (EXCEPT FOR THE HALO). The BiOrb MCR LED Light, Small, can be used in manual or cycle (automatic) modes. In the cycle mode you can choose an 8, 10, 12 or 14 hour cycle. In each cycle there is a 15 minute sunrise period where the light ramps up to full brightness and the end of the cycle the light ramps down. During the off hours only a dim night light will operate. NOTE: WHEN YOU TURN ON THE LIGHT IT WILL FLASH AND TURN OFF. THIS IS NORMAL. YOU THEN CONTROL IT WITH THE REMOTE. In manual mode you will have control over the color mix and the brightness of the light. The LEDs are white, blue, green and red. Includes the MCR LED light, remote control and clear adapter ring. Light dimensions 4-5/16". Clear adapter ring dimensions: 5-11/16".

The colors are wonderful!

I love this lamp. I have bright fish so the different colors make them very pretty. The timer settings are great. You never have to remember to turn the light off and on again. I wish it had a hole to thread the heating cable through. I have to keep it inclined to use the heater. Otherwise it's great!

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Only available in white

Lifespan 1.5 years is the best in Fish & Aquatic Pets

The one that came with the aquarium lasted 4 years. This one I bought as a replacement lasted 1.5 years. At $50, that's almost half the price of a complete tank replacement, so it really feels like it should last longer. Kept clean, no damage. It just didn't work anymore. The light flashes for a microsecond when turned on, then turns off.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • I won't say anything

The timer does not work in color mode.

You might think the timer would work in colored light mode! No, it only works with white light. Good for the holidays but not for those who need color unless you don't mind using manual mode. The timer was the reason I bought it because I thought I could play with the flash. If you want the timer to start, you need to press the appropriate time at the beginning. Once you choose a color, it overrides the timer. It makes no sense to me to use color.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Compatibility

Excellent coverage and light source.

I have a Baby Biorb and it works great with it. The colors are fun and I love how they can be made lighter or darker. I try each one to see what looks best. My only problem is that I find the timer instructions a bit confusing. It seems like the timer is only set for 8 hours daylight and 16 hours night. I want it to be the other way around. But I have not yet contacted the company directly to ask for any help and when they sort this out I will update my review.

Pros
  • Very impressive

Replacement required - aquarium light

I was very excited about my new LED light, I received it this morning and wanted to try it out at night to see the beautiful colors in my aquarium. I set it up and when I connected it to the transformer the light didn't come on. Occasionally flickers. I even got lucky and it turned on for a while, long enough to see how nice my aquarium looks. I feel like it was just a faulty product and I will be returning it and hopefully getting an exchange. Very disappointed that I waited several days for…

Pros
  • Trial year

Remote timer instructions are not very good.

The light itself (LED) is of course better for my aquarium plants, but the instructions for setting the timer are NOT suitable. Just press the 8, 10, 12 or 2 o'clock buttons and forget it? Do you want the light to be on when you choose the time? I'm assuming the switch on the cable needs to be turned on beforehand. I noticed that if I press any of the timer buttons while the light is on, the color turns blue. Is there a reason for that? Do different colors affect plant growth or fish health…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Quality
