Buyer Warning. on Internals

This card has some nice features. HDMI compatibility is not one of them. After repeated calls for help to the BMD tech support guys, they stopped responding at all. It looks like the output color space supported by this card is limited to Y, Cb, Cr as far as I can tell. The HDMI inputs weren't too lucky either, save for a $6,000 professional video signal generator. Also, they don't fix cards that they say are "out of date". So if the warranty is expired and it breaks, you have to throw it away…

Cons
  • Ugly packaging

1) Cannot record from HDMI (should have an SDI input) in DaVinci Resolve - maybe this will be fixed in later versions. If you want to capture non-SDI in Resolve you need to convert it externally to SDI and then to this (or any other) Decklink.RMA, they "found no bug" at the end (testing it so it wouldn't reproducible). They send me the card back and I suspect I will still have the problem. A NOTICE. Side issue: If you connect a computer (nVidia GPU) with HDMI output directly to Decklink, EDID…

UHD not working over HDMI

This was the second BMD DeckLink card I have purchased and the second time I regret not returning it. I couldn't get this card to lock sync to UHD over the HDMI output. Eventually I came up with a ritual that would get it to sync, but only in Media Express and only with 24fps content and only after a few reboots and waiting up to an hour. After syncing for UHD, the card will not properly sync again for HD output until power is turned off. BMD support responded to emails in a timely and…

A highly versatile capture card.

This is an impressive capture card. We had to resolve a minor issue or two with Blackmagic Support but they were quick and polite and we resolved both issues in one quick email. FYI - they would both be fixed by me if I read the user manual lol. It's a great card though. What I particularly like is that if you can get a connecting cable, it covers basically every type of audio/video input I could ever need. From modern HDMI and SDI to old-school components, composite and S-Video; in addition to

Good I/O card for use with Premiere

I had some installation issues - it required edit permission on my Mac - but it's not reported anywhere. I called tech support, they told me to change the resolution. Once this is changed everything works fine.
