Description of ๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ Peachtree Woodworking Supply Pen Blank Centering Vise: Perfect Tool for Precise Pen Blank Drilling with a Drill Press

Easily locate and drill pen blank centers and Drill through the exact center of your pen blanks with this simple but effective Pen Centering vise. By far one of the best selling pen vises available, this jig will be a go to tool when turning your pens. The jaws on the drilling center move in and out simultaneously to insure precision center drilling of your blanks each and every time you use the vise. Just set up the vise once and drill all of your blanks in the exact center. There is no need to change the setup regardless of the blanks size or shape. Holds blanks up to 1-1/2" square. The pen center vise includes a scrap board piece of mdf. It measures approximately 2" by 1/4". The scrap piece can be flipped, slid and reversed to get numerous uses out of a single piece. When you use up all of the surface, simply cut another piece out of 1/4" thick stock. Wooden base is removable and replaceable. If you need a larger base to clamp the vise to your drill press, simply remove the wooden base and replace it with a base made to your exact specifications.

It gets the job done

If you use a drill to drill pen blanks, this is for you. I cut the blanks in half, leaving about 1/4 inch of the blank over the "cams" of the vise when I drill them. The holes don't always come out of dead center if you go all the way, the hole is flat and even, you won't have a problem. I also trim the barrel in this vise.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Useless features

Good for accessories

Ready to use, no tuning I have to use a vernier to see any deviation from a true straight hit down the center of the blank. However, if your drill table is not at 90 degrees to your spindle in both axes, you will not get good results. at flea markets and flea markets for many years. In my case this is the simplest solution.

  • Perfect for outdoor activities

A very good tool. for Power and Hand Tools

Just received this week. Bought along with a Kanzawa K-801 drill guide after several unsuccessful attempts to drill workpieces on my lathe. This combo only takes a few tries to place the drill guide directly onto this drill vise, which is much safer and easier than using the drill bits on my lathe. I'll make a jig to hold the drill guide more stable, but I'm quite happy with a few of these jigs myself. These vises feel quite strong and the action is very smooth. Just clip it on to be safe.

Pros
  • Durable Test Results
Cons
  • Modern

very easy to use, does the job perfectly. Rubber band something

Overall great vise concept. it is self-centering and easy to use. However, the internal screw is clogged with sawdust. You can get a wire brush to clean it regularly. The wooden base is small, which can be handy for small drills, but it's so small that you can't securely clamp it with a clamp. We had to clamp it at odd angles so the clamp heads didn't get in the way of the handle. 4 stars because the clamp requires a large base and it would be great if a wire brush and some machine oil wereโ€ฆ

You can still drill at an angle

I know my drill table was level and this vise was level. I set it up, centered the bit as best I could and got my new vise. Well I was shocked to find that the drill holes go through the blank at an angle. As has not happened with all forms, but with some. I wasn't sure what was going on. I still don't. The vise itself is very well made, easy to open and close. The workpiece is very strong. I have noticed that you don't want the work piece to be too high above the vise as the work piece canโ€ฆ

Center Vise: Power Tool Parts & Accessories

We've had one at our local wood shop for a few years and it's a great tool. I bought a second unit to reduce bottlenecks in the woodworking class I teach. My only comment, mirroring others I've seen in online reviews, is that the wooden base is too small for a simple clamp on a drill press table. Another carpenter attached the original block to a piece of 3/4" (8" x 21") thick plywood, making it much easier to attach it to the drill table (or whatever). I have the same thing with the second one

At first glance it LOOKS impossible -

BUT it works so well it must be a miracle. Will miracles never stop? I make sticks to order. The topper is attached to one end of the shaft. To screw on the head, a centered guide hole for the screw must be drilled at the upper end of the shaft. it MUST be centered or it will look like cheap amateur work. and you lose money on the cheap side. THAT solves this problem. Unfortunately I have to drill a pilot hole in its base to drill a larger hole to let the stick shaft in - the bottom channelโ€ฆ
