Not 7 pin to 6 pin as advertised

ordered a 7 pin to 6 pin connector for my towed camper van. The item arrived and the 7th pin on the zip side was missing the center pin. Looks like a defective item as it never came. Also, the 6-pin side is all plastic while my old one is metal. This item came from a Revain return center so it was just put back on the shelf without inspecting the item when it was first returned.

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • No power

Substitute for the same item. Seems fine

I had connection problems with my last device. I took both plugs apart and found loose or disconnected plugs on both ends! One couldn't be repaired so I ordered a new one. The replacement seems lighter and more formed so I guess I won't be able to disassemble and fix it like last time, but then again since it's sealed it shouldn't fail like last time. It works well.

Pros
  • Consistent test results

  • I have doubts

Try this: Post

We have been working full time for 4 years now. So far we have had a coiled cable from Hopkins and one from Roadmaster. Each only lasted a few years before we noticed an issue where one of the bulbs on the towed vehicle was not working. Using a voltmeter/ohmmeter I found a lack of continuity (broken wire) from one end of the cable to the other. So let's try the Blue Ox cable and hope it lasts longer. So the biggest question is durability. Is it normal to change the cable so often? Ask me in a…

Image incorrect - BEWARE OF NEW CABLE CONFIGURATION

Old cable shown, new cable is here and it's better with soldered ends. However, Blue Ox changed the pinout without warning on the packaging. Keep in mind that the connections will not match due to changes in their wiring, so you may need to change the toad side of your connections. Blue ox has been informed and confirmed that the wiring has been modified to conform to industry standards. Discussion available if needed at RVForums.com

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • Good but not great

Not quite sure it's the Blue Bull?

The box says it's Blue-Ox and it's blue, but the surface feels thinner and harder than the Blue-Ox I've had before. (had to be replaced due to my carelessness - I attached it to the camper and had it dragged on the ground and messed it up) Anyway what I had before had a jumper pin in the middle of the seven pin connector but this one doesn't , maybe not normally needed, but my build had an extra 12vdc from an RV that I used for the charging circuit for my tow vehicle (I have a Cmax EV that I…

Appearance is manageable. Best in Trailer Accessories

When I bought it I was concerned about the wiring. The wiring diagram for this cable only shows standard cables (tail light, turn signals and brake lights). I needed a "hot" wire to power my "tow truck charger" and didn't want to run an extra wire to power it. Upon receipt, I connected it to the camper and checked the voltage at the output. All functions (taillights, turn signals, brake lights) worked as expected and there was a "hot" wire from the camper. There is also extra space for another…

WARNING - POTENTIAL LOSS OF BRAKES AND LIGHTS

I have replaced my RV with a Blue Ox tow rope as the outer sheath was torn; Same part number BX 88206 as previously used, however on receipt the RV plug was found to be missing the center metal bracket. I called Blue Ox and the lady said it wasn't necessary as the plug would stay in place; I explained to her that it takes very little effort to unplug the motorhome. Returning home on I 75 to Florida, I lost the brakes on my towed vehicle, power to keep the battery charged, and while checking the

Poor trailer accessory design

The plug on the cable has a small protrusion that hooks under a hinged cover on the socket on the vehicle and holds this together for a good electrical connection so road vibrations don't occur Don't disconnect them. I needed a new cable because the outer jacket of the cable is cracking/peeling. My original coiled cable that I bought from the Blue Ox factory in 2015. It has a metal pin connector. This link worked fine. The Revain image of the Blue Ox replacement cable shows the same metal…
