I'm not sure why the case was used but we received it and I noticed that the insert that helps it hold its shape was a bit loose. If you think the stakes are small, then it isn't. I am a parent of a 3 year old. This case should protect your iPad from damage. The irony is that as soon as I slipped the iPad (5th gen) into the case, the screen literally cracked from the pressure. It is poorly made and extremely disappointed with the customer service response to this faulty case that destroyed nearly $400 worth of product.
