Perfect fit for BMW 325i 2006

My local shop generously offered to replace it for $190. They are no longer my local shop. rzunimag. Replacing both sides takes about 5 minutes. Anyone can do it. It's easy. Watch the video on YouTube if you don't understand.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Some imperfections

Doesn't hold hood after 3 months

Both took a minute or two to install. '06-90. --- Update after 3 months. Now it's cold outside, winter, and the luggage racks no longer hold the hood. He popped the hood, stood there for a minute or two, then stopped and fell after leaving.

  • Few competitors

  • Not sure

Not for 2008 328i

Will not fit 2008 328i sedan properly. The Original Equipment A-pillars have a slanted head on the side that connects to the hood, these are straight to prevent the clip from snapping. For your own safety, do not buy this if you have a 2008 328i. The product says it fits, but it doesn't. False advertising.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Faulty

Affordable and does the job perfectly

Bought these for my 2006 BMW 325i E90. Incredibly easy to install and I was blown away by the improvement. After the first install, I didn't even have trouble closing the hood! Fully supports the hood and when you first open the hood to lift it these things lift it straight up. He wants to lift the hood. If your BMW has failed bonnet struts, look no further. I think they would also fit in the trunk.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

Good but not as good as OEM

Installation went smoothly on my 07 335i but I did notice a difference in the quality of the ball joint retainer compared to the OEM gas springs. After installation, I noticed that the gas spring slipped off the upper ball joint with very little effort because the snap ring was slightly bent, so I replaced the pair of snap rings that came with this kit with the original ones. rings. After that absolutely no problems. Apart from this small problem it would have been 5 stars.

Good aftermarket and price/recommendation

This is the best quality your gun can get considering its value. I quickly installed them on my 2006 e90 300i pre lci. However, STABILUS has original supports for both the trunk and the bonnet. I spent the extra money on trunk stabilizers as they will likely last longer and people tend to open the trunk more often. These BOXIs come in a very pretty blue box and I love the way it looks so I checked out the logo when I opened the trunk. I would buy them and honestly I don't understand why people…

Pros
  • Fine!
Cons
  • Hardly ever

Fits perfectly on the BMW e90 2007 335i. A few minor annoyances: The ball joints are not as tight as the OEM and can be removed by hand unlike the OEM struts, but they remain. The ball joints should also be rotated 180 degrees from each other - I recommend using pliers to rotate the shaft half a turn rather than unscrewing the bolted ball joint at the end of the shaft. Finally (and yes, I'm picky) they have a lot of white letters on them. In most cases, you can hide the white lettering by…

  • Best in its niche

May look like it will work out of the box

I don't know about other years but this one will not fit the 2008 328i unless you change it. It may look like it will fit out of the box, but the top ball seat doesn't go far enough over the top mounting ball on the hood to engage the latches. This can cause the installer to think it is installed correctly, but the post detaches from the ball and the hood hits the person. The top ball seat on the stem is slightly sloped, and this replacement is straight. Not enough room for a straight ball seat

  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Update available

Installation very difficult

I'm not sure if I finally found a fault in the German engineering (I installed it on a BMW E90 frame) or if the BOXI carriers were defective. The strut bushings attach to the corresponding ball joints on the BMW frame with a spring clip that "wraps around" the plastic housing and protrudes slightly into the bushing, capturing the ball. BOXI's very brief instructions state that you need to lift the spring clip slightly to pull both ends out of the socket and make room for the ball to enter. Ha…
