I don't know about other years but this one will not fit the 2008 328i unless you change it. It may look like it will fit out of the box, but the top ball seat doesn't go far enough over the top mounting ball on the hood to engage the latches. This can cause the installer to think it is installed correctly, but the post detaches from the ball and the hood hits the person. The top ball seat on the stem is slightly sloped, and this replacement is straight. Not enough room for a straight ball seat to go over the ball. I was able to get it working by swapping the ball joints on the new struts with the ball joints on the old strut. The old ball joint has slightly smaller threads, but it's plastic and I was able to fit the old ball joint onto the new stem.
