I found a DeWalt 705 trimmer in a trash can and risked it needing brushes. I found these guys, hooked them up and now I have a great miter saw for only $15!

These brushes are a perfect match for my DeWalt miter saw. They gave the saw new life for years to come. I didn't know there were two brushes in one set, so now I have an extra set.

In my Dewalt 750 miter box they work but not the first time. They are just too wide and I had to sand them down a bit to slide them into the saw seat. Since it's carbon, it only took a few strokes of 80 grit sandpaper. Once I did that, they worked fine.

I have noticed that the motor operated blade brake is no longer working as it used to. It kinda slows down the blade but doesn't stop it like it used to. I've seen some manage to swap out the brushes. Thought for $6 I'd give it a try. They will be swapped out in about 5 minutes or less. The replacement has not changed anything, the saw works the same as before the replacement. If yours aren't as worn as mine, the blade brake might not be worth it.

Wrong brushes sent to me! The photo shows a DW708 miter saw, a package labeled DW705/708, and the brushes themselves. The one that came out of the saw has a red cord with a splice on the end. The one I received has a spring and plate and doesn't work at all. As it turns out, my brushes can be pretty good, but as a contractor, that could really set me back when I was expecting to get the right part. The worst thing is that it's not even refundable. Pooh!

The only caveat is that the original part that was fitted to the saw doesn't have a rectangular metal 'holder' which I think is a safety measure to prevent the spring from going into the Engine bore reached after carbon wears out. Luckily we were able to tell the difference between the original part and this replacement by having a half worn 2nd OEM brush in the saw and seeing its construction. However, the replacement parts were easy to install and the saw runs like new for $10 for parts. :)
