First of all, if you have a large dog or want people to be able to read the patch remotely, don't buy this. It's tiny, which is fine for my purposes, but probably not for most people. Also, the opening is huge. I don't understand why they made it so deep. A leash or collar strap may be 1 inch wide, but dog collar/harness straps are slightly thicker than a piece of cardboard. It's well made and will definitely last, but if you have a dog that's aggressive with their leash or can chew on it, it's likely to break easily. Scuba material and soft/flexible plastic. I bought two "Adopt Me" in and one of the "Deaf" all in one inch. One arrived dirty so I quickly found that they are easy to clean. Very well made and should withstand normal wear and tear with ease. Not sure if 1 inch is the size of the strap and 3/4 inch would be tighter. I don't see anything that would be 1 inch. Lettering 3" × 3/4". And the whole patch measures 4 1/4" x 1 1/2".
