The product is working, I will not repeat it for sure.

At first I took it as a staff member on the 300D, but then I realized that the range was too short for this. It's best to use it full frame. I experienced a lot, there were falls, and sea waves covered me with it (the protective filter was standing at the same time), I withstood everything with dignity. Until now, I mostly shoot them in the studio. It is necessary to drag on cleaning and adjustment in an amicable way.

Pros
  • Good design, moisture protection, fast focusing.
Cons
  • Now I started to soap the left side of the frame, however, the lens fell and was splashed with salt water =)

The cheapest L-ka, but still L-ka. For a crop, this is a great lens. If you don’t really need a long angle, then 17-55, 17-85 and 15-85 are clearly better, not to mention 18-55. A little dark, of course, but on a good carcass this is not a problem (ISO / flash). Compared to 16-35 / 2.8, this one is not as sharp, a stop darker and a little narrower at the wide end, but the price / quality ratio is clearly better. All the muck of this lens comes out only on a full frame - vignetting and low…

Pros
  • Enough good has been said about this lens, there is not much to add. The letter L and the red stripe speak for themselves. Build quality, sharpness, lens hood and case included. For a long time, not a speck of dust or a scratch, survived the rain and falling to the floor from a height of growth. Used of course only under the filter. Not a single miss of focus. Even in the dark. Very pleased with a fairly good zoom ratio. Does not change size when zooming.
Cons
  • Well, it took some tweaking with the 50D to get perfect focus. At apertures 4-5.6 it is not very sharp, but sharper than any EF-S. It can only be compared with 15-85, but the second is somewhat for other purposes. Since the range involves use either for landscapes or indoors (with a flash, of course) - my aperture is almost always closed to 8-11, and in this state it is very sharp. In cases where you need a portrait - at the long end and with a maximum aperture - then ringing sharpness is not particularly needed, light software is even good for the portrait. There is a jamb when shooting macro with a built-in flash (if there are such perverts) - due to the size of the lens, it casts a shadow on the lower part of the frame, more than half. It is inconvenient to remove the cover when the hood is screwed on, if this can be considered a disadvantage =) A wound filter solves this problem.

I do not cease to rejoice at the purchase, a very good deal!

I picked up a wide-angle staffer for crop, considered many options and settled on this lens. In fact, it has no alternatives with similar quality in its price. I’ve been shooting for him for a long time and I have revealed all his strengths and weaknesses on myself. This lens is most suitable for reportage shooting, tourism. This is facilitated by fast autofocus and dust and moisture protection. Shooting indoors is very bad due to soapy apertures of 4 and 4.5 and the lack of a stub. As an…

Pros
  • Optimal as a crop staffer Constructive - the absence of any retractable parts Dust and moisture protection like all L series lenses Excellent quality from f 5.6 Very smooth and light zoom ring, can be rotated effortlessly with one finger
Cons
  • Soapy at f 4 and at 4.5 No stub

High-quality product, the price corresponds to the quality.

Gorgeous glass with an amazing picture. I didn’t shoot on a full frame, but on my 400D this lens has been used as a staffer for almost a year now. Didn't let me down once. It is guided easily and quickly, misfires at least. When shooting in cramped studios, it easily allows you to remove the "size" (although you have to take into account the fact of wide-angle). Overall rating - solid 5

Pros
  • An excellent staffer on cameras with a cropped matrix.
Cons
  • Luminosity is somewhat lacking.

The quality is top notch, be sure to try it.

Very high quality item, like all Lki. I don't really see an alternative. Before him was Tamron 17-35, which is lighter, with a higher aperture ratio and a price 2 times less. After switching to Canon 17-40, I won a little in focusing speed and color reproduction became more correct (the tamron liked to go violet). However, aperture 4 significantly increased shutter speed, which is inconvenient of course. Tamron at 17 mm gave aperture 2.8 with excellent sharpness. In general, the 17-40 is a…

Pros
  • L-class, constructive, focus, sharpness
Cons
  • Aperture, 17mm distortion, heavy.
