Fantastic product for camera and photo

Bought mine 'Used' to catalog Findgrave marker locations. Almost like "plug and play", just remember to set up the camera to register the receiver. After using it, take photos as usual, after completing the task, upload them to any photo processor you use and you can find the coordinates in the GPS section of the metadata. After processing the photos and uploading them to Findagrave's website, you will see that the GPS coordinates are automatically uploaded to the location map. No fuss, no…

Failed after 1 week

I bought a Canon GP-E2 about 2 years ago. It failed after 18 months. I called Canon support. The technician didn't even know Canon sold a GPS receiver. It couldn't be fixed. Bought another GP-E2 in September. After ONE week it stopped working. Sent it back to seller and asked for a replacement. They would like to send replacements but no units have been ordered. Also not available on the Canon website. Eventually I found it and made a 3 hour trip to pick it up so I could use it on an overseas…

Unreliable location data. Portable GPS is much better for photo tagging.

Changing this rating to three stars due to inconsistencies in the recorded GPS points. Works on my Canon Rebel T5 with wired connection and hot shoe. Only works on my Canon 5D Mark iii with hot shoe. Pros: Better than nothing. The Canon 5dmkiii's directional data is useful. Battery life is better than previous reviews. I have found that I can use it during the day for a week or more at a 5 second recording rate without changing the battery. Cons: It seems like every import I've made always has…

Good at what he does, somewhat great.

Overview: I bought this with my 5d mk3. So far I have nothing to complain about in terms of the device itself. It works as intended and locks my GPS position on every shot. I've used it on a couple of hour long walks last week and haven't had any issues with it or with the battery life. When I got home and uploaded my photos to iPhoto, I was happy to see that all of my images were correctly geotagged with exact location and direction. compared to other manufacturers like Nikon, takes place in…

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not sure

Bought in preparation for a trip to China. I'm terrible at documenting where pictures were taken, so I wanted something bulletproof enough. Here are some tips I took away from my experience: 1. When I first got it I turned it on to make sure it worked and then downloaded the latest software from Canon which said it did would fix some bugs. So far, so good. No problems after four weeks on the road.2. It finds a position within minutes of being turned on (longer if a significant portion of the…

Good product but flaws

**********Update********************Additional comments after multiple use Months:- I picked up the camera's shoulder strap while walking, but didn't realize it got tangled up with the USB connector that plugged into the camera's USB port. After walking around for a while, I found that the GPS module stopped working with my camera. I later discovered that my USB port on the camera stopped working (not even for uploading photos!). I must have damaged it. The good news is that the GPS module…

Super cool technology. And now they have made it much easier to use.

It was great to receive, set up and track our journey. Now they have improved the software and it is easy to use. It tracks your journey, whether on your camera or not (as long as it can lock onto the satellite) and shows you where you took the pictures, right down to the direction you pointed the camera when you uploaded it and the Have checked map and tracing line. It is very easy to use and well worth the money. I look forward to using it on a cruise. A lack of equipment. For example, if you

This is a pretty good first step into the GPS wars

Nikon has supported GPS receivers connected directly to their cameras for years, while Canon's only solution was to use the GPS receiver to connect to wireless file transfer. clutch at a premium of hundreds of dollars. This device, which connects directly to the camera's electronics via the hot shoe on the 5D Mark III, 1D X and (cable) 7D flash, is the first device capable of geotagging photos during unattended shooting. WFT or other third party kit. And it's been rare enough since its release…

Good and Evil

This device has two very good qualities, but a few bad ones. Pros: When connected to a Canon 5D III or 1DX, GPS data is inserted directly into the camera file, with no additional software required. so that the camera clock is accurate. It is important that the GPS and camera have the same time if you want the GPS data for the image to be accurate. Bad: 1. Accuracy is not as good as handheld GPS devices like the Garmin GPSmap 76CSx.2. The device can create a path log, but the only way to view it
