🐠 Carib Sea Ocean Direct Natural Live Sand for Aquarium, 40 pounds, ACS00940 Review

The sand came out mostly dry which struck me as odd. I checked the bag at the local fish store and there was liquid in it. I suspect he lost it on delivery but was a little disappointed that I might have lost some of the life that should have been in the sand. what i paid for except that it fogged up the tank for about 2 days. That's what I expected without washing it. Next time I might buy in store.

I have bought many sandbags for my many African cichlid tanks and have never been disappointed with this brand. It's the perfect weight that doesn't blow easily but is soft and all my Africans love to sift and dig in. I personally wash it several times in a 5g bucket of water until the water runs clear and then put it in the tank. The maximum time required to clear cloud cover (if any) is a few hours. Not a bad deal for the amount of substrate you get, but I seriously doubt it's as "alive" as they claim. My bag was pretty dry. There was practically no more moisture in the sand, and nitrifying bacteria did not get into my aquarium. Received my order for 160lb Living Sand and paid for overnight UPS shipping. Arrival took 11 days. All the sand was dry and there is no chance of life left in it. Okay, full disclosure. One bag wasn't enough for my 75 gallon reef. This is probably the best value for money Revain calcium carbonate based aquarium sand from a reliable manufacturer. At least that's when I bought it. Whether they are excellent reef or African sea cichlids, they require water with high carbonate hardness and high pH.
