Looks like the photo Eco-complete is ideal for a planted aquarium. I like the different colors, they make the substrate look more natural. I use plants for low light so I'm not sure if they will get much or some benefit as most feeds are from the water column but some, like Amazon sword, are root feeds. 20 pounds is about right for a regular 20 gallon bottle

I used this on an existing tank which I replaced with real plants. So far, so good. You won't flush it out, but it will be a mess for the first few days, don't worry. After putting this in, I took out my filters a few times to continue rinsing them, all in all it took about 48 hours for my water to be crystal clear again. The plants I have seem to be doing well, you might find them difficult to plant because they are so easy, but they are worth it.

I have a 10 gallon aquarium with lots of plants. I have found that some plants are doing well while others are not as we would like them to be.
