The wires were too short to fit in the Eaton box.

If you have an Eaton box buy BRSURGE/CHSURGE. Fits snugly in 2 slots and protects up to 30,000 amps (I think). At the time of publication, it's only around $60. If you want something good, grab the wacky Semens, which costs around $300. I was told that the wires are much longer in this one. Of course you don't want the wires to be too long, but long enough for installation without the schematic wire nut. It didn't work in the Eaton box; the wire was not long enough.

Great price, easy install, great protection.

After much research I decided to buy an Eaton 109420. I installed it flush to the panel using one of the free cut outs. Installation took about 15 minutes from start to finish. You would need to purchase a 50A bipolar switch which costs about 10.00. Wiring is very basic, but a word of caution. If you are unfamiliar with working in a panel, DO NOT attempt to install it yourself. You can easily kill yourself working in a switch box if you're not sure what you're doing. I am very happy with the…

Good product. Easy installation. Would recommend to others.

Installed in a Siemens Residential Load Center. You have purchased a Siemens 50A double pole circuit breaker (you must purchase a circuit breaker compatible with your own load center). Installation was very easy. Turn off the power at the main switch in the load center. Before installing I turned off the 50 amp switch. Installed a 50 amp switch on the bus bar. Installed Eaton surge protector (mounting method depends on load center configuration). I connected the green wire to the ground rail…

More difficult to install than expected

Why so difficult? The cables are pretty short. I planned to mount the block through a slot in the bottom of the board. I quickly realized that the wires wouldn't do if they weren't lengthened. However, there was plenty of space inside the panel. I mounted it at the top next to the main switch. But still, the white wire reached the neutral band with a large stretch. I also had to move the neutral wire down one screw to access the top connector. Drilling holes for the screws through the main…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket

A few days before installing the surge protector, we had a power outage. And the GFI and the kitchen are out of order. It is important to connect the surge protector as close as possible to the point where earth and neutral enter the busbars. You will need the following materials and tools for proper installation when your switch box is upright and your mounting block is upright. at the bottom of the box. A 50A double pole circuit breaker to match your fuse box (specified in the instructions)…
