I was having trouble poking through heavy vintage fabrics so I ordered these #12 needles because they are thinner. They are amazing. I use fine thread and can easily thread it through the gold needle eye even though I'm in my 70's. I've started using a thimble because the fine needle is a bit sharp even at the end of the eye.
