Check the functionality of everything you buy upon receipt.

so I only had to fit the radio a month after receiving it. It doesn't work and won't transfer. It turns on and accepts. Now I'm in front of the window to return, and the box has already been thrown away. Waste of 120.00.

Defective upon receipt

The product was installed and had an internal short circuit. Laboratory test Atlantic Marine 5.4.2021 The unit could not be installed during the return or revain period, which is ridiculous. When something breaks that has never been used, the return window should never close. One wonders what kind of rubbish Revain hangs on its customers. Terrible politics! Shame on Revan!

worked great until it caught fire!

The device was installed on the boat and the first trip caught fire. After putting out the fire on the boat and rewiring it was still working except for part of the GPS. The device was installed with the positive and negative cable ends open. When another problem arose and we wanted to fix it, the wires were touched and we started a fire! NO ERROR ITEM. Thing is, he's still working for the reception call.

Great radio great price easy install

This Cobra MRF45D is very easy to install and set up. Channel management on your phone is a great feature along with the 16/9 hotkey. The emergency call function button with protective cover to protect against accidental operation is a great idea when you are in a hurry and need help. Clean appearance, the speaker is nice and loud. The response to a radio test 5 miles away is loud and clear. We'll check further when we get to Lake St. Clair. The weather band accepts 2 local bands (1 in…

AVOID! piece of trash!

That really sucks. From day one the external speaker jack didn't work, I tried a few speakers to make sure. I'm pretty sure he isn't broadcasting either as I haven't been able to get any replies over the air. I was unable to contact customer service to replace the radio. Today, out of curiosity, I opened the case and found that there is significant corrosion and bridging between the connectors on the board. This radio is weatherproof and has only been in the sea a handful of times and is said…

I bought a Cobra MR F45-D VHF marine radio. It should be "GPS ready". In order for the radio to report your location, I had to purchase a $90 Cobra CM 300-005 locator. This was not mentioned in the product description. As a result, I compared this device to more expensive devices with built-in GPS. Very disappointed that this was not revealed. I bought and installed the CM 300-005 with the help of a certified electrician. The radio still doesn't report the location. I contacted customer service

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • There are defects

Good VHF radio with distress signals and GPS coordinates

***Update*** The radio turned out to be pretty good. I cleared all connections, registered the VHF MMSI number with Boat US and now my boat can send an alert with coordinates if I get into a PAN, PAN, PAN, or MAYDAY situation. I was also able to communicate (in the dead of winter, test) with merchant ships in the Chesapeake Bay from my boat in my backyard, about 15 miles from Virginia Beach. I did a radio transmission test and got loud and clear feedback. Now I look good to put the boat on the…
