Is that nonsense or what? I made an 18 year old tape that was still doing what it was supposed to do. if possible at lower temperatures and even put in the freezer for a while and change the lids not too long ago on a warm day, oh so sticky.

I can only speak of butyl tape. The substrate continued to adhere to the butyl. If you love tearing off little pieces of paper so you can spend more time working, this butyl tape is for YOU! I had 150 feet of tape to attach and I enjoyed spending HOURS picking up small pieces of paper with a nail while I taped the corners of my RV.

This is always useful. I keep a bun in my RV so I have something on hand for a quick fix and there have been several occasions where this has saved my bacon by allowing me to seal a crack in the caulk in the rain. Suggestions: keep it horizontal and keep it still. This makes it easier to unpack because if you store it in a warm spot on the edge it will melt a bit and turn to mud at the bottom.

What this product actually cost me money so value for money is zero stars. I believe this product was out in the heat for so long that it was all but ineffective at keeping out the rain. I've been researching for this DIY for a few weeks now and I'm confident I've cleaned the surfaces adequately. I was very thorough and it only rained at night. Now that this product is failing I have to spend over $300 and a whole weekend to replace everything that is soaked through.

I've used other types of butyl tape in the past and this option is terrible. The waxed paper backing does not peel cleanly from the tape and often pulls the butyl tape away from the applied surface OR stretches it when attempting to remove the backing. This wastes a lot of tape as it will either stick to itself or you will have to reapply it in places where it was too flimsy. I think the band itself is fine, it's just the back side. The purpose of these sealing tapes is to be able to apply a gauge of sealant when installing something e.g. B. new electric roof fans in an apartment building. The protective strip was not removed from the seal making it almost unusable. I discovered the problem when I was about to install the air vents. Used this when reassembling the engine bay of my Scout II Traveller. Initially, they used a form of butyl that was lubricated and distributed in various places. He was great to work with, fixing things to the fire, patching holes and keeping the rumble away. The name says the tape, but don't expect it to hold things together, it's just filler to fill gaps. Seems to do exactly what it's supposed to. I've used it to seal under the flange of a van roof vent/fan (and used Eternabond to seal the top of the flange). melted and stuck to the inside of the package (sealed white plastic bag).
