🔒 Sure Lock - 4 Pack of TSA Approved Travel Luggage Locks with Inspection Indicator, Easy Read Dials, and Zinc Alloy Construction Review

I travel with Pelikan cases for road shows and wanted a TSA lock for it. They have been sent 20 times in a month and are working as expected. During one of my trips the TSA must have fallen, kicked the box and landed on the lock, breaking the printed numbers on one of the cylinders. Does this lock no longer work? no, he was abused but carried on like an energizer bunny. For that I would buy them again, knowing that they can be abused.

These locks have served their purpose and fit me particularly well as my near vision isn't what it used to be. The numbers are big enough that I don't have to walk around looking for my readers to open my suitcase. The instructions for installing your own code are simple and the actual construction of the locks seems solid enough. They certainly kept to themselves (no pun intended) during our recent trip to Peru. Highly recommended.

Note - this is a great lock for keeping the backpack locked when traveling - for example to keep other hands off it or to prevent subway-style hooks from attacking what is it is in it. However, there is a simple switch on the back that (even when locked) will open the lock and allow you to change the code. It doesn't work for something you keep locked up and out of sight. They worked well for what I needed, which was an extra lock for my carry-on.

Security opened two of my suitcases and was able to get the keys out without re-locking. See photo, snaps into two different positions. Result: 2 locks that are now unusable. After a ride. I had to use zippers. They would do the same job a lot cheaper. UPDATE: I was able to reset the TSA lock using a screwdriver. I'm returning one star because I can restore functionality. I'm not giving more because it's an obvious design flaw and the descriptions specifically say it shouldn't happen.

You just have to roll the combination after the lock because if you don't and press the button, the lock will open. This isn't a problem for people who use locks, but believe me there are people who won't turn the combination after locking it, press the button and open the lock, leaving the lock maker responsible for making a bad lock make. The good thing about these locks is that you can easily read the numbers, which helps in low light. The cable is small enough to fit through most small holes in the ends of luggage zippers. I use them to zip up my suitcase as well as the zips on my carry-on luggage. The main disadvantage of these locks is that the cable's plastic jacket is not crimped at the ends along with the braid.
