Hard to say other than it was the best selection in a package, an excellent quality product and there were no problems like some junk sold out everywhere. Great supplier to deal with if you need information etc.

I needed to fix some wires in a component I was repairing. I decided to try them out to see how they work. I didn't have the right setup when I used the shrink connectors, but I got it working and the component I repaired is operational.

Trial and error means you'll end up using many of these connections for one connection. You have to crimp them twice on each wire so they last long enough to crimp and grab the insulation. Even then I threw out 4 for a successful bonding. Save time and money on 3M connectors.

The overall quality of the product is just not good. I was very disappointed. The way they are crimped onto the wire and heat shrink crimped is also of poor quality. Overall I am very disappointed with this product and had to give up some connections. And yes, I know what I'm doing and use the right crimping tool.

I love these as I bought them primarily to rewire the connectors on my trailer. This time, to make sure they're waterproof, I smeared the wires with electro grease and heated them to seal it up, so time will tell how the new light works with them. There can be problems with the floor because it's open and my trailer is stupid how it's grounded so the floor needs a lot of re-doing.

These butt connectors are very good, 4 stars only because there are better sealed connectors on the market but at a much higher price. The great thing is that there are a few sizes that you won't typically find smaller or larger. Heat shrink tubing works well and should be a durable connector that is decently weatherproof.

So far I have tested a couple of good quality red 3 pliers pliers and they all pierce the plastic and when heated the piercing opens further exposing the metal. I'm a marine electrician and I've done 1000 crimps. If there are no super crimpers, it becomes difficult to get a waterproof connection that also passes the pull test. Update** I bought their custom crimping tool and they don't pierce the insulation like a standard crimping tool.

Okay, there are a lot of those. And they're inexpensive. But it's worth it. No joke. I purchased this kit to replace the boat wiring after visiting my local NAPA and researching their offering/price. WOW. The biggest problem you will face is 1. Use a heat gun as the gas torch will scald the wire before it melts. and 2. There are so many of these that you can screw up, finish your project (like my boat) and have so many left over that you forget about them if you put a nice (but short-lived)…

As with many of these cheap crimp connector sets, the center crimp sleeve is machined from the cheapest Chinese metal. It will crimp, but it's too soft to hold the wire securely. Don't use them for anything critical, especially on smaller wires. I think the larger sizes are better (maybe more metal) but the small ones (which are most in this set) are almost useless.
