The translucent material allows the keys to show through without smudges, with the exception of the "COOSKIN" branding to the right of the space bar, which is also light gray and barely visible. **UPDATE** In my original review I had an issue with the lid in the top right corner lifting up when the "del" key was pressed hard enough. I'm a bit disappointed with this product but it seems to be the standard keyboard case design these days. I had a very old, long dead keyboard that actually fitted the keys perfectly AND wrapped around the sides making it almost impossible to get wet.
