📏 Lufkin Crescent Wood Rule 966N Review

This new version of 966, left to right, red tip, foldable ruler, readable inside, very cheap construction with loose connections, inferior paintwork and markings and in folded position 1/2" longer and 1/2" wider than the old ones (very uncomfortable compared to the old ones). The new brass connections are flimsy, but difficult to open even after greasing, and don't run very smoothly. I have been buying and using this type of ruler for over forty years, always personally. This is the first one I've ordered online (Revain) and it's unusable. Individual pieces of wood were attached unevenly to the metal hinges, causing the display on one side to deviate nearly 1/8 inch from the opening on the other side. Also, one page of the print didn't reach the end. Wooden ruler, so I guess Lufkin just wants you to forget that 1/4" on one side and add the missing 1/8" on the other side.

This is one of the best folding rule models available (along with the engineer model 1066D). Like other reviewers on similar questions, I really don't see why anyone would want an external reading rule. Convenience and ease of internal reading is much faster, more efficient and more accurate. This has two inch scales, both inside and just right or left. it's about as handy and useful as you can get in any of these.
