Looks good, doesn't work.

I thought it was a cool design and all so I bought it. I filled it with 4 mSATA disks, in Windows 10 Soft Marvel does not recognize the presence of disks, useless software, the driver is no better. In Device Manager I've seen hard drives, they say they work fine, but they aren't in Disk Manager. This article is very hot for a RAID 0/1 device. Another waste of money, it seems everything mSATA related is going very cheap.

Is your computer old and slow?

A single PCI slot available? Is your computer old and slow? Clone your hard drive onto this little beauty and some M.2 SSDs and you're good to go!

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Expensive

Reliable performer for many years

Have been using two PEX40115 on different machines for 3 years. Expect to use the spare part I bought in another machine so come back here for another spare part. I just realized I've never left a rating/review. It's easy to forget when everything works so well from the start and then works for so long. My Use: Perfect use of my only remaining PCI-e x1 slot to add M.2 SSD storage space to an already small Dell tower that isn't designed to accommodate many storage devices.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine

Used for Windows 2016 Server in RAID1

I used 2 of these cards to upgrade an IBM M4 server. My customer didn't want to use SAS disks connected to their own backplane to run their SQL server. So we have 2 - Samsung 850 EVO - 1TB - M.2 SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-N5E1T0BW) for SQL data drives in RAID1 and 2 - Samsung 850 EVO - 500GB - M.2 SATA III Internal SSD with the second one Card connected RAID1 for OS W2K16. Each card was configured for hardware RAID1 using the card's mgt utility <ctrl-M>, the W2K16 already had the Marvell…

Works perfectly! fits IO port cards

Nice addition to my r710 server. Storage 2x SSD for cache pool and SATA ports connected with external adapter. I will use it for my external Blu-ray drive if I can set it up.

Great mSATA medium

Works great for me! It comes with both shorter and standard mounting hardware. My mSATA SSD fits perfectly. The operating system recognizes the SSD as an "internal hard drive" and does not require any special BIOS settings or operating system drivers. The card adds additional splash screen information after the BIOS logo is displayed. Only one thing doesn't work: The supplied screws and nuts don't fit properly, so the SSD wobbles a bit. However, this does not affect its function. I'm also not…

Exactly what I needed!

My computer's motherboard seems to have some bad design decisions when it comes to the interfaces used by the two available M.2 slots and which PCIe slots are disabled depending on what you have connected. In fact, this is a problem that almost no one will encounter and is only caused by my unconventional hardware setup. I'm calling this "poor design" because further research suggests that this won't be an issue on any other motherboards I've considered with similar specs. My options were…

Wow! SCSI Port Cards

I built a Windows 10 NAS using an old Intel motherboard with onboard RAID and 5 SATA ports. I used all 5 SATA ports for a RAID array and put Windows 10 on a USB3 stick to boot. As expected, the system started up and was painfully slow to respond, but as a NAS it performed very well. Then I decided that the system can do much more (Core-i5, 16GB RAM), but the performance of Windows on a USB drive was just not acceptable. So I got one of these and paired it with a Transcend 64GB Transcend 64GB…

Didn't work on my computer

Physically the product was fine. Install the WD item I was planning to use it with. A driver disk for five to six common mainboards was included. My Dell motherboard didn't recognize it and I couldn't find a driver for my Dell system. The description may be more specific to supported motherboards. I know this is part of Dell's problem with their proprietary motherboards, but I still feel like I wasted my time and money.
