This tool can easily remove and reinstall the plated spark plug boots on my VW New Beetle GL 2.0L AEG without damage. I will not attempt to change spark plugs or wires without them. It has a long stem that makes it easy to access. I am completely satisfied with this purchase.

This product appears to be durable and is suitable for removing the metal spark plug caps on a 2002 non-turbo VW Golf 2.0. If you are careful and remove the 2 injector clips you can even get 2 inner spark plug boots without removing the top half of the intake manifold. Just make sure you blow out the spark plugs with compressed air before removing them, as dirt likes to build up around them and can get caught in the threads or get into the engine.

I was a little confused by another reviewer who said this tool didn't quite reach cylinder 2 due to the handle size, but that wasn't the case for me at all. With my VW Jetta 2002 GL 2.0 I had no problems attaching and removing the tool to the cable. However, you need to be a bit careful with it as it is a bit flexible and can apply too much force on it to deform the tool. So here's the thing, very good tool, looks well made, only problem is that you can't get to it because of cylinder #2 - around the corner and positioned like the intake manifold is. Since I swapped out the wires anyway, I ended up just pulling the wire by hand to remove it, or of course you don't want to do this with connector wires you intend to reuse.
