Do not buy! Get 8 teeth for more torque.

The starter failed after the first trip to the lake. Buy an 8 tooth starter instead of a 9 tooth starter like the 2000 Seadoo starters. They fit perfectly with great torque.

Do not buy on Seadoo

The starter motor cannot start my 97 Seadoo XP. Tried a substitute in case I had a lemon. No, crappy starter. I bought a used OEM and started right away. Do not buy for this app.

Restore the original if you can, but it will work.

I give it 3 starts simply because all aftermarket starters suck including this one. For the first 3 skis on the lake I didn't want to turn it off because I wasn't sure if it would start again, now it seems to start every time but not as much as it should. If you have the original starter, rebuild it, don't replace it.

QUALITY WHERE IT MATTERS

Slow shipping but good starter so far. ADDED VERIFICATION This starter worked as it did from the factory. Coast and I had no problem with what I later found to be underwear both times. Torque capability was strong and reliable right from the start and the seals appear to be of high quality too. initial search for electrical parts for my Sea-Doo needs

Great spare part!

Arrived quickly. Installed with no problems. Perfect match. I had to move the rear bracket (see video). Fixed my starter problems on a 1997 Seadoo Challenger 1800. Installation is a bit bumpy, but not because of the product. This boat has the starter under the engine so you're hanging upside down the whole time. If you have any problems, I've noticed a hole where the ground screws are painted or powder coated, so you MAY need to file it down to get a good ground.

BUYER WARNING: Starters & Alternators

Attention, do not buy this starter! If you do this you may be stuck somewhere with no way of going back. When you ride a jet ski, a reliable launcher is a must. I recently purchased this starter and it worked for the first 5 starts and then stopped working completely leaving me stranded 10 miles up the lake from our camp. Luckily I wasn't alone but it still took us 4 hours to get back and ruined our holiday. Please save yourself the trouble of going through this ordeal and spending extra money…
