This one doesn't fit and they don't seem to care

I have used this product on other trucks and it has worked great. When I had problems with that, I got confused. I followed the instructions exactly, but there is interference between the shock absorber and the truck. The trunk cable cannot be removed. The included cable clip hits them and I ride with a large cable loop hanging from my tailgate. Also, it lowers the gate very, very slowly. This may be due to cold weather. I hope so. I contacted them through their website. Have you ever thrown a…

Works as expected but the tailgate cable is still behind the shock body

I replaced an old tailgate damper that was obsolete. I thought this one would work better and prevent the tailgate cable from being pinched between the shock and the truck body, but even when the plastic latch is in the right place it still gets stuck there. Although I don't know how. If this happens and I open the tailgate, the plastic part is in contact with the tail light and there is a risk of damaging the tail light. At some point, the plastic rear light glass broke on my old one. I think…

  • Hard to tell

Would give it a 4.5 (if it was an option) but for the price it's a 5. My rating is based on a 2003 Dodge 2500. All the details in the description are good in the detailed instructions described. My only issue was that after the 11 minute install, the tailgate cable folded and was either 1) trying to get between the truck frame and the shock OR 2) part of the cable was sticking out when I closed the tailgate. My solution #1 is duct tape near the bottom of the shock (see video/photo) for #2 - I…

Well, so far so good!

So far so good! Installation took about 30 minutes, mainly because each step required a different tool. It would be nice if statement 1 was a list of tools. On a 2006 Ram 1500, the tailgate was always half the weight of the truck. I have back problems so I undid the latch and woke the neighbors when it opened and bounced all the way. Now it's smooth as butter! While this doesn't help with closing, it also smooths out that movement and makes it feel easier to me. I can now close it with one hand

Trunk opening assistant Dee Zee 2005 Dodge 2500

Update 09/13/2017: Nut reinstalled in the blind nut and turned the nut another four turns (now the nut is turned 8 turns more than necessary). The mother appears to be properly dressed. I reinstalled the ball joint and shock absorber. The tailgate works fine except the tailgate cable sometimes gets pinched between the tailgate and the side of the truck bed and the upper shock mount rubs against the tailgate when in use. I removed the tailgate cable, secured it in a vise, and bent the top…

10 steps to get angry.

Step 1: Your wife keeps forgetting to just lower the tailgate because she has a newer fancy truck with a hands-free door. Step 2: Order the DZ43300 for your 2005 Dodge Ram 1500. Step 3: When you get home you will find an empty Revain envelope because the courier wanted something for free that day. Step 4: Call Revain and ask for a replacement. (They sent back a completely different version of Chevy.) Step 6: Call Revain to fix the problem. Listen to the phrase "I'm sorry, but don't worry" about

This product is a great idea. Unfortunately cheaply made

This product is a great idea. Unfortunately cheaply made. My first problem, like many others, was getting the spreader insert in the tailgate to start. The opening in the trunk is much larger than the insert, so nothing gets stuck when rotating the extender. I've tried every suggestion in another review with no luck. Finally, I just started inserting my vise until it widened a bit. This finally gave him enough grip to install it. It's also not entirely clear how tight it's supposed to be. The…

The jury is still out. - Updated to Super!

This review is on the product, NOT Revain. The item was dispatched and delivered within the stated delivery time and the packaging was excellent. At first glance the instructions seem incredible as they are in color and have pictures of each step and how it should look. But I think they got off the line from step 2 (installing the "nut" - similar to a drywall molly screw). It says you use a 5mm allen key and a 10mm wrench, but it doesn't say the allen key should be held still while you turn the

IMPORTANT Fit Issues - own a Dodge - please read

Okay so this review is mostly about installation and fit. The packaging clearly states that it "should" fit my 2004 Dodge 3500. first problem. The shock's lower ball mount installs in a pre-drilled hole next to the pivot point. This hole is unthreaded, so they use an anchor that expands on the back, like a drywall anchor. The instructions are VERY clear that you install it 3/4" apart (if you see the instructions you will understand) and then turn the nut ONLY 9 times while holding the center…
