PRIMA FACIE GOOD The best in starters and parts

This is one of those not yet talkable about. I just installed it and at first glance it looks like a quality product. The original starter lasted 13 years though, so we'll see. I will definitely post if this thing fails before 13 years is up.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Quality

Good replacement starter.

This starter was 97% cheaper than a replacement for my 2005 Honda Element. The OE ring clamp on the starter cable had to be narrowed down a bit with a file - the slot for the bolt post is narrower than stock. After 3000 daily runs it works perfectly. This is a 1.6kW version with higher revs than the original. He turns the engine like a whisk.

Pros
  • Solid Finish
Cons
  • Damaged

Starter motor was bad out of the box

I didn't buy this from Revain, I bought this from CarID. I thought I was saving money over the OEM Mitsuba starter for my Honda Element, but it ended up costing me more because it failed right out of the box. My old starter was weak but still worked. When I replaced it with this one, the Denso starter turned over every time my battery was connected, regardless of whether the key was in the car or not. I think this is due to a short in the solenoid valve. I removed the Denso, bought another set…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires power outlet
