Significantly cheaper than OEM parts.

After 20 years, the plastic in the original finally broke. It fits great, works great and is a lot cheaper than trying to find an original part as the tailgate was redesigned 19 years ago.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Fixed for $10.

Pretty easy installation, took 10-15 minutes. I'm not sure how strong the plastic clips that attach to the bars are, but for $10 it works (and a lot quieter and smoother than before) and I'm back in business. The dimensions fit my 1999 Frontier perfectly. would recommend.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

The new pen looked just like the original and fitted perfectly

The new pen looked just like the original and fitted perfectly. As with some other reviewers, the handle didn't have enough spring travel to allow the latches to disengage the strike plates. I removed the latches from the cranks and shortened the bars. Now it works great.

Pros
  • Rugged construction
Cons
  • Zero

I ordered the 5th other one - all crap!

These grips have a terrible two-piece design. I would happily upload photos to show the imperfections hoping they will fix it. I'm very tired of replacing it on my tailgate and I'm not even a heavy user of my tailgate or truck bed. I could go on but just know that if you buy a tailgate handle from this brand you will be requesting a refund within a month.

Pros
  • A sea of positive emotions
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Can't tell, original owner from 2000, 184,000+ miles.

IDK about some other reviews but the item I received looked the same as the one I removed. Broken after 16 years of use. This quick install product works great and fits as a $100 OEM or $40 local auto parts store. I bought 2 and shipped them the next day and still cheaper than my local auto parts store. If negative reviews bother you, buy 2, you'll find out anyway. I took 2 just because of the price.

I'm so glad I bought this

I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier and have faked the tailgate handle so many times. I don't use a truck anymore and often had to open the gate with a screwdriver or something. I just did this the other day trying to fix the handle with wire and stuff like that. Then it dawned on me if I could just buy myself a pen - I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me before. Maybe that was it, and it was too expensive. Anyway, I got it for a great price, installed it in about twelve seconds and it works and…

Look elsewhere for the correct fairing

This handle does not appear to fit. While the assembly fits perfectly into the socket, the spring mechanism is slightly taller than the original version, causing the latch bars to rub against the tailgate's inner metal. Also, the pull handle does not fully retract the liftgate tabs, causing it to bind when the liftgate is raised, even when the handle is fully retracted. This forces you to push harder on the tailgate to close it (to fit the tabs into their slots), despite pulling them in far…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Some difficulty
