It's amazing, and it's about damn time.

Finally heard from us. It's 20 years too late, but I can finally recharge my batteries while I'm on the road. A must for professional SERVICE technicians. Just started using it this week. So longevity I don't know. Oh, and don't leave it on when the truck's off. Or use a connection that is only activated when the truck is driving. I know I didn't say car. Should You Use It? You don't ride in a car. But the same rule.

Pros
  • Great overall work
Cons
  • Some bugs

Expensive but useful

A little discount so I ended up buying it to use on my farm and keep the battery charged while I work in a remote location. Works well (Dewalt) but overpriced for what it is (Dewalt!). NO, it doesn't need faster charging speeds - you might think fast chargers are handy, but they kill battery life. In our cooler Minnesota weather, quick chargers are even more of a hassle. Be patient - save money on those $$ batteries. While I could use the 12V dual slot version, given the "bag of gold" I wouldโ€ฆ

When I get to work I always have fully charged batteries

I like to charge tool batteries in the truck. I'm a contractor and there's nothing worse than defusing when you need tools. I have about a dozen DeWalt 20V batteries in my truck. I keep the battery charged all the time and turn it off regularly. So when I come to work, I always have fully charged batteries. It's a bit expensive. I wish it was cheaper but it's worth it. I used to have a Ryobi car charger that sometimes drained my truck battery to the point where I couldn't start the truck andโ€ฆ

DEWALT 12V/20V MAX Car Charger [DCB119]

It typically takes about an hour to fully charge a 3.0Ah or 5.0Ah battery with or without a charge indicator, which is inferior to the standard 20V DCB118 charger I have at home. I have found that when there is a battery in the charger the red charge indicator starts blinking about once a second when the truck is started, requiring me to remove the battery and then put it back in the charger to restart the charging process . However, it works perfectly and I am very happy with it.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Poor experience

Do not use for intended purpose

Plug is too big to fit into outlet. The plug has been replaced with a Sparkin 12V power supply with LED indicator. Didn't work when plugged into the truck's 12v outlet. Two (2) blinking lights indicate a problem with the power cord. After starting the engine with a 14V generator, it began to charge. Turning off the engine allowed the car's battery to continue charging. Connected to solar panel with 12V deep cycle battery Cloud has disrupted charging. The charger changes power 3 times perโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

I use it for trips abroad.

I travel to Europe frequently for work and didn't want to risk using my DEWALT 120VAC 60Hz European voltage charger. Even if I had bought a 220V to 120V step-down converter I wasn't sure if the 60Hz to 50Hz conversion would work. (I burned a 60Hz phone charger in the UK a few years ago, although I used a voltage converter). My solution: Rather than buying a dedicated European voltage DEWALT charger, I would buy this one to use in my car. at home and abroad. And also. When used with a BESTEKยฎโ€ฆ

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

  • Not as thick as other options
