135 degree split point drills on contact and prevents walking. Extended Length drills in hard to reach spaces. Black Oxide coated for greater wear resistance.
later Quality! I bought it to poke a few holes but no more so can't comment on how well it will hold up with repeated use but it's good quality like most things Dewalt.
This drill bit is not a reduced shank but is a full diameter 7/16β although photos and specifications are shown here and on other sites. If you want a 3/8" shank, don't be fooled like me. Why did you do that, DeWalt?
The drill is decent, it drills in wood with a smooth reduced shank, this is NOT. It is 1/2" shank so it may not fit your tool. Seems to be a common issue as several reviewers have had the same issue lately. I can still use it in my big drill, but I was hoping to use it in other exercises.
I would still be drilling if it weren't for the spear-like Diablo bit (extra long) I used to first drill the hole. It was wobbly because it was as thick as a headless pencil so the hole wasn't straight, but then I used a Dewalt bit to finish it off. However, it took some time to go all the way down.
I used this larger than I'm used to drill bit to drill a few holes in some 2x6 cedar boards for a blind shelving system I'm assembling. I'm no pro and hardly a beginner so the size of this one was really intimidating when I opened the package. But it worked like magic, went through the cedar like butter, and I called it a success. Did what I had to do and was pretty good at it.
