After reading other reviews I bought this splitter to use my hearing aid accessory to stream TV directly to my hearing aids while my husband watches TV through the soundbar. It works great and comments from other viewers saved me a lot of trouble by recommending this power splitter. Thank you!

This product works great. First I tried with a passive splitter, but without success. This amp model worked great to split the output from my TV to the soundbar and surround amp. The USB power connector is located on the back of many TVs. If you're tempted to buy a passive splitter, spend a few bucks more as it's much more likely to work.

Like many others my subwoofer died in my soundbar and the only way to get a subwoofer was to split the output and hook up a third party powered subwoofer. Did I have a wireless subwoofer, which means the soundbar doesn't have a subwoofer? To solve this problem I had to split the optical output and this unit does exactly that. I added this unit before an optical RCA converter and was able to keep my existing soundbar by simply adding a better subwoofer.
