Picture is great no noise nice colors. The sound however is not lossless, some slight distortion and compression when compared to a different composite only cable. No buzzing or unshielded noise just sub par audio quality imo

If you have an ancient TV with only the svideo connections that your husband refuses to replace "because it still works” this is the perfect compromise! Our old Blu-ray player went out last year, turns out they only make the HDMI connections for those now, and this converter works brilliantly to allow us to connect the new hdmi Blu-ray to the older TV. Picture quality is decent, not fantastic, but that could in part be due to the older/out dated TV, which is at least 15-18 years old!

Unit does not convert HDMI video to S-Video properly. Converted video outputs black and white video only, no color. I returned the first unit I bought thinking it might be a bad unit. The replacement unit failed exactly the same way. Their Tech support solution was to try set the switch on the unit from NTSC (US video standard) to PAL (European standard). That's ridiculous . that changes the frequency and frame rate of the video signal, not the luminance (black and white) or chroma (color)…

Installed in my truck to connect a retro video game system to my in-dash display's RCA inputs. Worked perfectly for 30 minutes before it fried itself. Bought a different name brand for the same price which has been working for hours on end now.

It worked great and then I had to upgrade my iPhone to an iPhone 7 and it no longer works. Are they going to make it work on the newer phones? It's now useless !

I've been looking for something similar to the Retrotink and I'm so glad I found this - especially for the price. The picture and audio quality isn't actually all that bad. There is a little noise sometimes around -50db on the audio, but I imagine that's due to the analog channels.I use this with an elgato HD60s capture card and it works great if you're interested in recording or streaming your retro consoles.I've confirmed this working with the NES, SNES, and N64.

I was having an issue trying to go from composite video to S-video. The direct connect boxes were dreadfully expensive but this was a good cheap fix.

Used this product to transfer more than 30 hours of Tivo recorded materials on to DVD's. The picture quality is not HD but good enough for my purposes. Super easy to set up and worked the first time, no trouble-shooting required. Before purchasing I even had a video engineer tell me that this would not work as he proceeded to give me a $100 solution and state that "It's the only way to do it." Surprise!

I use this with my Rokuo, my HDMI got fried in a storm we had. This work great for the old school way! Not compatible with all HDMI cables.

Got this to use with a projector that doesn't show green when using VGA input. Projector still works fine with a composite or S-Video input. Saved me from having to purchase a new projector. Well worth the price!

I attached my Apple TV to my old Sony Trinitron 27 inch tube television. The picture is very clear better than back in the 90s when I used to use a VCR

Don't bother purchasing this hardware. Unfortunately, the problem with items generally "made in China" is their lack of quality control and quality assurance that the product actually works and will last, too.

Not flaky, just plug and go. Picture quality as to color and resolution might be a bit lower than the best, but pretty close to the best of hdmi to svideo. Sound level a bit low, but clean. Simple and reliable settings. Could use a slightly longer power cable. S video is male, so either mount it close to screen or get a female to female adapter.

First one I purchased was defective - there was hot glue in the S-video adapter. The second one I got works with my DVD recorder using RCA jacks, but doesn't work when I plug in the S-video adapter - I get a blank screen. Not sure if it's the adaptor or the recorder at fault yet (haven't had time to troubleshoot yet).

This adapter was working with my Roku very happily for period of time. We were completely happy to find a solution that did not require buying a new TV. Then it stopped working, two days after the "return window".

Surprisingly, worked first time with no tinkering at all. Used to hook up my Christie L6 projector thru the S port. That's my feedback!

I finally got all the pieces together to connect my FireTV box to our OLD CRT TV (that just won't quit!) This little device sits in the chain of devices very nicely and does what it's supposed to do. Worth the money!

This is the second unit we've bought in the last year, and cannot say how nice the converter works for video conversion from HDMI to S-Video. We don't use the composite video cables at the moment. This works great if you have a Roku or Best Buy Fire Stick and want to get the signal from them into a DVD recorder. Older DVD recorders only have S-Video and composite inputs so this device solves that problem if you want to record your favorite shows. I'd recommend this device as it works very well,
