I like the product for water sports and sailing

I like the product, it seems to be of good quality. I'm not sure how strong it is for someone who wants to cut a metal ring into key-like pieces. I hope it is hardened steel but the product is not true. If I could make a request I would like to see a video demonstration showing how durable the product is. However, I would buy it again and recommend it to my friends. Thanks for reading, David Thompson.

Does not work on standard fin boxes!

It didn't work for me and now I have to figure out how to get the single sided screw out of the fin box so I can put the fins back in! There are no essential guidelines for fitting the bolt into the fin box (my only option). As it seemed pretty obvious I did it and now my fin won't attach! Now I need a tool to remove the one-sided locking screw! I hope this works or my board will be destroyed! I have a standard fin box on my Irocker Blackfin X.

Good quality, worth the price

I agonized over spending $50 on a padlock for a while, but then I remembered how much I spent on the SUP board itself! This is attached directly to the fin box. You only need to install the small latch once, and then you can just click and open the lock. The cable is strong but thin enough to even go through D-rings; We use this to latch two boards stacked on top of each other in a rack. The cable is also quite long, probably twice the length of a standard bike lock.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

The lock is effective but the twisted cord is a pain

The lock itself works and is undoubtedly effective, at least against casual thieves. However, twisted cables are a headache. This severely limits reach and can make it difficult to move the lock into a position where you can open it, as you have to maneuver a large, bulky board and try to twist the cable and lock while you're pulling the move letters. If I had to make this purchase again I would buy the lock separately and get a straight cable the same diameter as this one.

Ideal! My husband and I kayak every weekend.

Excellent! My husband and I paddle every weekend and wanted to keep our boards safe while we had lunch after paddling. I bought this combo set along with an extra leash lock. After the morning row, we connect the cable to the 2nd docking gateway. The boards are attached to our truck. Now we don't have to worry about someone stealing our $1,000 boards. Is it a bit expensive? May be. But the cost outweighs the thought of replacing the $2,000 boards. Ease of installation. It is easy to set the…

Great combo for attaching a surfboard

The locking jaws that attach to the base of the leash work great and the lock combo flips easily. I use this lock and cable to attach the paddle board to the side of the boat supported by an outside pole. While the marina is safe, it really adds to my comfort by leaving the board in an easily accessible place. I wish there was a way to attach a short loop of thin nylon rope between the clamp and the cable as there is a risk of this thing falling into the murky waters below when removing the…

EXACTLY what we needed.

This set is exactly what we needed - we bought two of these. Every morning we row to a café on the other side of the harbour. Locking a surfboard can be tricky - we've tried lasso locks and other solutions, but nothing has worked for us. Either the board doesn't feel secure or it takes forever to lock and/or unlock. I found this and read all the reviews and thought it could be perfect and it is! I can attach my board so quickly - we can connect multiple boards together and because one end is so

easy to put on and take off

I have several and have been using the product for about a year. It is well made, easy to put on and take off, fits the leash plugs of several children's boards and SUPs and has never damaged boards. To avoid scratching, I try not to touch the circuit board with the metal end of the coil, the only part not covered in soft plastic. Boards are often stolen from garages, so mine are tied to structural 2x4s in an unfinished garage. Of course, if someone really wants to steal the board, they will…
