Works as expected, best electric

Need a new transformer to power the ring doorbell. After reading many positive reviews I decided to order this particular transformer. voltage checked with multimeter; the output voltage was just over 16 VAC (as shown). Works as it should.

Just what we need to make our doorbell work

Our original 40 year old transformer didn't have enough voltage to work well with the doorbell. On the advice of the Ring support team, they customized our doorbell to match their product and said we needed it. Works perfectly. Before you buy, you can check with Ring to see if it will work with your original doorbell and coordinate everyone together.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Obsolete model

Required after installing the Ring Doorbell

After installing the Ring Doorbell, my internal ringer stopped working. With the installation of this larger transformer, the bell now works. I'm a DIYer so installation was pretty easy. Most of the transformers are in the attic and are connected to the power grid. You must reverse the circuit breaker before installation. So if you can find the right disconnect switch you should have no problem installing this upgraded transformer.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some bugs

Beware of heat problems

UPDATE! Unfortunately, after several months of installation, I am forced to change my rating to 1 star. The device began to overheat and possibly threatened to catch fire, it got that hot. We now believe that our entire doorbell system was damaged because it is now having problems so this product was found to be unsafe and did not live up to expectations in terms of powering our video intercom system. It's amazing how something so weak can overheat so much. Please accept our apologies for…

Fixed power issues with my Ring Video Pro Doorbell

My Ring Video Doorbell Pro had a 16V-12V AC transformer installed and I was having endless power issues. The doorbell kept losing power and eventually just wouldn't turn on. After calling ring support they said it could be the transformer. After some digging I can find this article. I looked for 24V but saw that it helps most people. Decided to give it a try and now I have a nice, sturdy ring doorbell with no problems. One note I wasn't expecting, it's physically larger than my old transformer…

Bought as an upgrade for Ring Doorbell Pro

I own several Ring products and have recently seen that one of the requirements for the Ring Doorbell Pro is a minimum 16V/24VA transformer. I've had a doorbell for about 2 months and I have a delay of about 4 seconds when someone presses the doorbell button until my internal ringer rings. I also have trouble understanding what people are saying at my door. The sound is distorted. I replaced my transformer in hopes that this would eliminate these issues. Also, some say they don't have any…

At first I didn't think it would work.

First let me say that I bought these because my Ring Video Doorbell Pro freezes when someone rings the doorbell and I apply the voltage that connects to it and also the wires from the mechanical one Doorbell unplugged itself Save power to the video portion of the system, notice poor performance and freeze video clips. At first I was disappointed. That's why. My old bell transformer had an output voltage of 18.5 volts. I installed this transformer and found that the output voltage is only 17.9…

Used to improve doorbell and Ring Doorbell Pro performance

When I installed the Ring DoorBell Pro in my daughter's house, I also replaced the mechanical doorbell with one (a different one mechanical) on the list of compatible rings (many of them have different brand names but are made by Heath-Zenith and are inexpensive). The call only cost me about $20 at Lowes. Old bell, even before Ring Doorbell Pro barely rang. The old transformer was 16v 15amps. The new bell rang normally and the status of the doorbell was fine. However, I wanted a better…
