DORMAN 34237 Conditioning Bypass Pulley Review

Received this as a way to get rid of the air conditioning compressor! It fits perfectly, the belt needs to be loosened a little more.

Bracket is about 1 inch shorter and will not fit 1999 Wrangler Sport! Send back! Do yourself a favor and pay another $15 at your local parts store so you don't have to wait a week for it to arrive and be disappointed.

Looks cheap. This is for my farm so it doesn't matter. He has a little game that was a bummer. Just take a look. It only works for a few weeks. I love the spot he cleaned up in my engine bay.

I got it the next day at a camping general store on a road trip from home and the AC bearing has failed. I unscrewed 4 bolts from the old air conditioner and, without disconnecting anything, just threw them back. Screwed in, replaced V-belt and off we went. I drove it 10 hours to get home where I had the tools to fix the original air conditioner. That was redemption. The quality seems a little low so I'm deducting a star. I will use it in emergencies but not always.

I'm tired of changing bearings and messing with the broken air conditioner in my jeep. I used this to bypass the A/C compressor on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. If you still have refrigerant in your lines, go to your local auto repair shop and flush it out. 4 screws to remove the A/C compressor and you need to remove the hose from the back of the unit (I think it's 2 screws). It works but my jeep sounds like it has asthma and I don't like it. There is what I consider an unacceptable level of lateral wobble/play in the pulley/bearing assembly. It worked well but the overall quality is lacking in my opinion. I ended up going to ebay and buying a set of brackets to move the alternator and a shorter belt, nice and quiet now and the alternator much easier to access. The first thing I noticed was a little play on the pulley right out of the box, also I'm pretty sure it's a return as the box looked like it had been re-glued and the Screws were simply reversed. in a box, not in a bag or anything. But I needed it immediately and didn't want to mess with the return. The only real plus for this pulley was how easy it was to install.
