Just a little bit OK Dremel

Works well at low speeds but the bristles are so thin and poorly assembled into the bit that they fly out at higher speeds and the bit doesn't last long. The cup shape is crumpled and the bristles stick together under pressure and rotation. I'd say it's a light wire brush at best. Still a useful item in your Dremel arsenal, but I just have a feeling they could do better.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old

Great brush but mind the speed limit!

I've used them to derust some bottlenecks on some cast iron work and they've worked very well. They were more durable than some of the regular ones I've used. Be sure to follow manufacturer's recommendations and DO NOT use speeds over 15,000 RPM. A typical 120VAC variable speed Dremel will run at up to 35,000rpm, so we're talking about using the brush at just under half speed! 15,000 rpm will wear out prematurely and there is a risk of the bristles breaking at high speed.

  • Satisfied so far

Perfect fit for our project

We bought a Dremel 428 and 442 to see which one was better for removing rust from flat surfaces. The conical shape is perfect, it allows us to cover a large area quickly and to hold the Dremel at a comfortable angle to the work surface. The only downside is that those little hairs break off and turn into nasty bits of metal that get stuck in your clothes and the ground. They then cause amazing pain when they bite the legs or other sensitive parts of the body. There's probably nothing the…

  • This is amazing
