Not the quality I thought.

Got this as a Christmas present, I liked it at first. I found it easy to use and definitely has enough power for small hobby projects. Then about a week ago I noticed that the battery was draining very quickly. I would only use 10-15 minutes after leaving it plugged in overnight. Today the charger continued to make mistakes like losing power. I checked the polarity of my 122v dc socket, I plugged my 12v ion charger into the plug and it worked great, then I reseated the Dremel battery andโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • So far so good

Battery is good but I had to get the wired version

PRO: My first Dremmel bought on the recommendation of an experienced friend. Very happy with the performance, mobility, speed control. CONS: Too bulky for fine work when used alone. I bought the expansion and I love it. Batteries are good for some jobs. My friend installs electrical devices in cars. Great for that. I use it for carving wood and stone. These longer projects take longer than the batteries will allow. I bought a second battery and it helps, but the second battery sometimes diesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

So useless, running time 45 seconds

I am very disappointed with this product. It seemed good the first time I used it, but the battery life was only about 15 minutes. Performance decreases with each successive use. I use it for grinding on the 10-20 setting. On my second use, I only used it for about two minutes before it shut itself off with the three battery lights flickering, which should indicate the battery was overheating. However, when I remove the battery, it literally feels cold, in fact the entire device stays cool. Now

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons

The tool itself is really good IF the included charger works

The tool itself is really good IF the included charger works. The charger worked once to charge the battery first but never worked again. Usually when something goes wrong the first thing that comes to mind is the battery so I bought another one. Same problem - the charger should blink while the battery is charging and then stay on when the battery is fully charged. With both the original battery and the replacement battery, the charger will blink twice and then stay on and not chargingโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • ---

Purchased on October 18th, charger connected to 121VAC outlet (measured with Fluke 189), battery installed. The charger blinked for a few minutes, then the charger turned off. Battery removed, charging shows 2 out of 3 light segments on battery. Plugged the battery into the Dremel device, used it for 10 minutes, the battery died. Attempt to put the battery back into the charger - no charge indicator on the charger base. Voltages measured with Fluke 189 - 121 VAC at charger - ZERO voltage output

Pros
  • Nice deal
Cons
  • Disappeared

The cordless beast of the Dremel range! Very impressive!

I bought this Dremel 8220 after buying the 8050 to trim our dog's nails but I needed a more powerful Dremel for other chores around the house. I knew I needed a cordless Dremel and settled on the 12 volt Dremel 8220. My first impression was that it was slightly larger and heavier than the 8050. After charging the battery and turning it on, I knew it was a beast! I used it to cut off some hard plastic toilet valves (and replaced them with SharkBite compression valves) and it cut them throughโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Delivery was very quick
Cons
  • Crumpled

Large selection: rotary tools

I have been using this tool for several weeks. I followed the battery charging instructions first, and the battery held a solid charge after a few hard uses, from sanding down the latch to keep the door closed to cleaning the intricate wall bracket to remove tarnish. The fact that it's cordless makes it much more convenient than using a corded Dremel tool, which requires you to be plugged into an outlet. I found it possible to use my Dremel 8220 to do small, quick jobs on a trailer parkedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • hands free
Cons
  • very expensive
