Good Overpriced Nintendo Repair Alternative

The fan in my switch has been making quite a bit of noise for a while and I have no idea why it started. I take very good care of my Switch so this was very frustrating to see. It has recently started to deteriorate and was very noisy when shifting into high gear which was a bit worrying as it may have caused irreparable damage from the noise alone. So I contacted Nintendo and they said it would cost $100 + shipping to fix (no guarantee). One caveat: Not only do they claim to fix the problem…

I feel like a boss getting through this, I haven't messed with the electronics much, but $150 for a $300 tablet repair? Go out. There was more than enough thermal paste, the screwdrivers worked fine EXCEPT for a few flaky screws but that might not even be the screwdrivers fault and the rubber band trick worked to get them out. Point there, can't speak for others but thank god for this kit. Rubber Band Trick: If you have a screw that won't turn and feels disassembled when you put a rubber band…

Amazing Replacement

Take your time and do your homework before attempting to replace the fan. This isn't very difficult, but it's easy to get lost if you don't keep track of which screws go where. Worst of all, these two pieces of foam are attached to the heatsink as one piece. Take your time and scrape it off with the included scraper and it will rise. The kit itself contains everything you really need to fix the problem, including new thermal paste, a lint-free wipe with alcohol, and a dry version. clean up…

The perfect replacement!

I have a starter switch and the fan has been noisy for the last year. My switch failed this week due to overheating. I decided the fan had finally died, so I ordered a replacement. It turns out it was. This replacement is very quiet and works perfectly. I tested the Switch with two 8-hour gaming sessions and had no issues. Be sure to check out a few different tutorials on YouTube before attempting to replace it.

Stay cooler with sound.

I installed this fan after my old one started making the fatal fan clicking noise. It was pretty easy, although there was no guide or website to find it. I ended up going to ifixit as they have a lot of do-it-yourself guides. The fan definitely performs well for the price of the sound. For a small switch this can sound like a jet engine at times, but I don't realize it until I actually hold it in my hands. I don't notice anything in the dock. But the man moves. Much more than an OEM fan. And…

That's why it costs $16 instead of buying another switch.

So my Switch had problems with noise. I think the pin that balances the fan on the servo was slightly bent. The noise it made was a very loud hum. It was so audible I could hear it from another room. To be honest, this model was released on the first day. However, I find it a pity that it took so long before it failed. Its real downside is switching, which is a bit more common these days. Be careful if you've never done this before. It's best to do your research and prepare as best you can…

Beginner: Fan runs and makes a faint but slight noise when stopped

I'm a newbie. I have never attempted to repair my electronics. I always bought a new one. This would be the case if I liked the Lite, but no, I decided to try and fix the broken fan. The fan was making this horrible grinding noise. It drove me crazy I followed the iFixit instructions. This is easy to do, but I suggest taking your time. The Y screws were difficult to get out so I removed one of them. In addition, due to my mistake, 2 screws at the top and 1 screw at the bottom of the back wall…

This product does not work with Nintendo Switch

Complete rubbish. My old switch got so hot from using it so much that I think part of the fan melted which made it very noisy, but the fan was still running. So I ordered this product and installed it in my switch. After turning on the back of the switch, I found that the fan wouldn't turn on at all! I was frustrated so I took the back off and tried turning the fan on while playing Breath of the Wild and found the fan was on and I felt some air coming out of the switch which I didn't feel…

Great fan replacement kit! Update: Died after almost a year and a half

Update: Well after almost a year and a half this replacement fan has died. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone considering that. My original fan lasted three years (bought the switch on launch day). I hope the replacement fan will last AT LEAST that long, if not longer. Looks like I'll replace it again but not with this company's fan... It recently started making noise before it stopped working but it wasn't as bad as my previous fan so I wasn't sure if that was the last sign that he was…
