Okay I think: special equipment

used for the first time today and it didn't brown the bread very well and I used very thin slices. Although the cheese is well melted. Smoke was also coming out of the back of the device. I'm worried it might not last long.

Pros
  • finally bought
Cons
  • too dull

Good price for a dedicated machine

Bought for my son, his Dash sandwich maker broke but it was still under warranty we just wanted a reserve whilst waiting for a replacement. He didn't complain, he's very good at toasting bread and melting cheese. The materials just seem a little flimsy, but it doesn't take up much space. That's enough for backups.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • Some bugs

The teflon on the plates arrived scratched

Compact, holds 2 sandwiches and makes nice pockets for a crispy crust. Mine came with scratched plates, not bad enough to consider a return but bad enough to make a cheese stick. Also, standard bread barely fits, you may have to trim the crust of the bread to make it fit. Overall not a complete disappointment but I think you get what you pay for, it wasn't overly expensive.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Only available in black

What a joke for the kitchen and dining room

I bought this knowing it was refurbished (or so they say). I have purchased refurbished items in the past. But that's not the case! It's just used and broken. The plastic on the handle cracked and I cut my hand pulling it out of the box. When I opened it, there was still cheese inside! The green light that lets you know it's warm enough doesn't come on. It was complete junk!

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Modern

It's not like the sandwich makers of the past.

Very disappointed with this product. I was expecting to get a device very similar to what we had many years ago and maybe a little bit better. This sandwich is not like that at all. The sandwiches were so small. I tried the first one and then adjusted to what the manufacturer could handle and still closed. Little fits in there. All other ingredients just come out the sides. Not for me. I wish I had saved my money.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Broke on first use

Well I was very excited to get this sandwich maker, I haven't had a good grilled cheese in years! Out of the box I followed the instructions before first use to T. After a few hours I get ready to go, put in my 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and start lowering the lid (lid). The top cracked before it even touched the bread! Afraid it might break, I didn't even try to squeeze it to snap it into place. I let it cool down a bit and kept pushing slowly until it clicked into place without using any…

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Not for thick sandwiches

Not like the Salton I had years ago. The first time I used it, I made tuna, green beans, and cheese, which is exactly what I've done before and bought this for. It had thicker potato bread. Half a can of tuna, canned green beans, hand-pressed, and two slices of cheese each. When I closed it I knew it was going to be a challenge. The old Salton had more ground clearance and more metal construction. I tried to close it all the way and a piece of plastic broke off the top. The handle is separated…

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Some problems
