Great stuff. The Python library works great and is easy to extend to any protocol you need. I use them in automated test systems to collect and control data, I2CMini easily copes with this task. My only concern is that the USB ID is engraved on the bottom of the board, meaning you have to write it down before soldering it on.

Pros
  • Barebones desktops
Cons
  • Not sure

Great device for testing

This is the best device I've found for experimenting with I2C devices directly from a desktop or laptop. Either this or a full-size I2CDriver is invaluable for finding a way to bypass a new I2C device without having to go through an intermediate Raspberry Pi or Arduino. You can use the GUI, CLI or Python or C to write test streams. I've tried a lot of this type of stuff and this works best for me. I use Debian or Ubuntu Linux.

Pros
  • Computers and accessories
Cons
  • Poor manual

works great and great tech support

the device registers itself as a USB serial device - it took me a while to figure out that none of the I2C codes available on the big internet would work as the USB port doesn't emulate can master I2C outside and I2C bus inside. So if you're hoping to hook up I2C sensors and actuators (like I did), be prepared to use some programming magic. Luckily the serial communication protocol is well documented on the i2cdriver website. There is also a Github source code repository for control…
