Works perfectly. About security

Easy to install. I bought 2 of these to put up and down stairs. I liked them so much I bought 2 more to block the playground. They are strong enough for my child to resist and not enough for them to drop.

Worked amazing for my metal railings!

I went crazy trying to find something for my metal railings because they are so thin. I tried this and am so happy I did. I read someone's review about adding zip ties to hold it in place and it worked! (I bought the thickest zippers I could find and then put the included Velcro on top.) The holes in the wood made it all possible, I wouldn't recommend it as I saw I was just getting a regular piece of wood. This is ideal if you have metal railings. **** I also used retractable baby gates so you…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Nothing

This is a great addition as I've been using 2x4. It wasn't very durable because it didn't have Velcro. Love it and it comes with a pad that fits against your railing so it doesn't get ruined so we didn't want to screw anything into it. It works like a charm and my gate is very strong. However, I didn't account for the ground and the metal clip doesn't stay straight due to the angle I had to attach the strap. As you can see there is also some decoration at the top of my railing but it works…

Great concept. maybe better for the bottom of the stairs than the top

Great concept. We paired the top of our stairs with Cardinal Gates Stair Top Gates (which is awesome). Had to order twice because I didn't even realize our stair railings aren't a standard 36" height. 42" fits a lot better, but I almost wish there was an extra layer of security alongside the velcro straps. While I love how strong our stair gate is at the top, I think it would be safer if we sacrificed and pierced the stair railing post. Does he feel strong? Yes. Do I feel 1000% comfortable with

Worked great on our railing

We tried some baby gates that are made for railings and wall mounts but for some reason the drywall couldn't hold the screw and anchors for life. Which is definitely not safe as our girl started crawling and climbing up. We had two 192 inch adjustable Regalo children's goals that we originally built for a giant square playground. We wanted to use the wall brackets from this gate to create a small gate that is "away" from the stairs. Searching for this handrail attachment adapter was the perfect

Does the job but could be better

Bought two of these to use at the top of the stairs from banister to banister (Evenflo Secure Step Hardware Mount metal gate). My railing is slightly offset, so I need these boards to stay on the edges, not right in the middle of the railing's vertical centerline. After initial setup with the included padding and velcro straps, I found that the boards would slide towards the center on their own. To prevent this, I had to add my own command bars. I also added some foam to fill in the extra space

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • I'm concerned

I appreciate this product very much. The tops of stairs are sometimes so difficult to install baby gates! This allowed us to use the Cardinal Gates Stairway Special Gate, which was the only one we found that didn't require a nearly 90 degree fit on either side of the stairway to work. I swear finding something for the top of our stairs drove me crazy - ordering and returning things, finding possible hacks, etc. It was the missing piece that helped me solve the puzzle. A wooden pole is the best…

Waste of Money - Door and Stair Gate

Simply take filler and drill through the stair post. If you are like me look for this product because there are many kids gates and they are all stunning. Clamping flap or rigid bracket? So you get this to save your ladder rack as the baby gates need to be hardwired at the top of the stairs. And you want your child to be safe on the upper deck. You'll spend a little more (baby gates are expensive anyway) and choose this one to save your home from all the holes you need to poke to protect your…

Saved my wooden railing

I was afraid to poke holes in my wooden railing when it came time to install the gate on the stairs. I was researching a few do-it-yourself gate adapter projects and then found this article. For the price it was worth buying a kit for me rather than trying to assemble it myself. I first bought one for the top of the stairs to see how well it worked. Installation was very easy. Has a cutout at the top and bottom. You take a velcro strap and thread it through the board, around the railing and…
