This is a regular peeler but with a wider and heavier handle. It's sharp, the blades cut easily. Unlike fixed-blade knives, this type has a slack, pivoting blade and moves a lot, making it difficult at times to "bite" the vegetables you're trying to peel. A slight annoyance for some, but an annoyance nonetheless. Thanks to the large handle, it takes up more space in the drawer, but the orange color makes it easy to find. Is it better than a cleaning knife, half the price and less? Not really.

This is a solid cleaner. It's sharp and effective. From an ergonomic point of view I prefer the Euro Cleaner (straight bar type) for most of my peeling needs like potatoes, apples and carrots and find it takes too much fruit or veg. I love this Farberware Y-Peeler! The grip fits my grip very well and the plastic is grippy but not sticky. The blade is really sharp and the angles are just right for peeling.
