Instantly recognizable in both Windows 10 and Linux Mint 19

Works great, easy to install in PCI-E slot. I used this to replace some ports that were broken on my desktop PC. The components are of high quality, all 4 ports work. Windows and Linux recognized it without installing drivers. The only downside is that you cannot boot through these ports (from a USB stick or an external optical drive) as the operating system has to boot first for the ports to become "live". This is not unexpected, since the PC usually does not recognize additional port cards…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • The list will be long.

My computer almost burned down and melted

I relaxedly watched YouTube and got up to have a drink. I came back and the computer is off. I turned it on and then I saw flames inside the computer from the side vent (the panel is not visible). I immediately pulled out all the loops behind which the computer has already automatically disconnected from what is happening. The side of the case was hot. I had to take it to the open house (good thing the blizzard cooled down immediately). I opened the case and saw damage to the card. The computer

Plug and Play Windows 10

Restoring and running an old Asus M3A78-CM AM2+ computer as a server from parts from old computers. I have a 250GB SSD to boot, a 250GB laptop drive for backup, a 2TB internal drive and the rest are 4TB external WD USB 3.0 drives built in. I found and added a used 3GHz quad core AMD Athlon 4X processor with 8GB RAM. That's when I discovered that the motherboard only has USB 2.0 ports, not fast enough for external drives. Bought this card (just spent extra money) to add USB3.0. Fits perfectly…

Inexpensive but you get what you pay for

Arrived safe and sound in fairly standard packaging. The card was easy to install and came with drivers, but it quickly became apparent that better drivers already existed. I tried using Oculus Rift sensors as it should, but despite the advertised speeds and using the correct drivers, the card failed to support the sensors. All drivers are updated, the PCI connector is fine and the 700W PSU is working, which can easily support all devices. The bus speed on my motherboard was also more than…

Works great for a few days, then fails. (updated)

I almost returned this card because it was suffering from random disconnects. It turns out that even if Windows detects the card immediately after installation, it is very important to install the recommended driver and disable Windows power management on the card. After installing the driver, the card works fine. UPDATE: A few months later the card keeps turning off randomly. At first I thought it was driver related, but the problem persists whether using the 2012 Renasus driver or the latest…

Just wow! - Internals

Okay, my gateway computer is a bit dated, but it's a competent I-7 system that serves me well. It's suitably upgraded and comes with SATA drives. My last problem was that the flash drive I plugged in was filling up to a level that was causing the machine to become unstable. In tax cases, instability was absolutely the last thing I needed, so I decided to just move the image data to an aWD USB stick since it's relatively new and held a few hundred gigabytes or more. I said my computer was only…

Works fine - Update

New Info: Worked fine for 6 weeks and then failed. Sent back for a refund. The devices still had power, but there was no data signal. Tried reboot, uninstall, reboot, install and reboot; still didn't work. Tried multiple combinations of which device was plugged into which ports to no avail. Too bad because it worked so well to the point of failure. I'm using it on an HP Z440 Workstation and as HP workstation owners know they worry when it comes to add on cards. Used 3 other brands of USB sticks

Works as advertised

07/20/2020 Update: As a result I bought another card. It doesn't have enough power to connect multiple external drives to it. My personal experience: When I connected multiple external hard drives, they were randomly connected and disconnected and also disconnected while transferring files. This card does not have enough power to power multiple drives. I ended up buying another card with an extra power connector that plugs into the SATA power cable and it works fine. This card is only suitable…
