Sharpening and Polishing Compound for Flexcut Slipstrop Review

We had one of these at my college print studio and they are great for keeping your woodworking tools sharp. This also works with flat chisels. You use the side of the block and the back of the skin.

I was a little surprised when I received the sharpener which is a block of wood with cutouts. It's more of a finisher than a sharpener. I thought I'd buy a whetstone. Haven't used it yet so can't say if it sharpens my very dull antique tools.

I'm still new to woodworking tools but haven't managed to get a really sharp edge with this set yet. The wood base is soft and tools will scratch and damage the surface if the fit is imprecise. The leather strap is comfortable but the rough side of the leather shows through and I thought smooth leather is better polished. It's not the miracle tool I was hoping for to sharpen my woodcarving tools, but I remain optimistic.
